Alicia Spinnet being a reserve the year before Harry further confirms my theory that Oliver was NOT the captain then but still insisted on giving a speech before every match

My theory for the biting Goyle moment is that Peter was vicariously reliving Gryffindor-lads-youth and just joined in some Gryffindor vs Slytherin kerfuffle

Man, the footrest topic is wild. They’re 100% necessary for an athletic venture. They assist with leverage, reach, maneuverability and more. I would imagine every single athlete that’s ever played a sport would want equipment that provides those benefits. They aren’t luxury, they’re competitive advantage and something all professionals would want.

“He will not actually say words to her until he’s asking her to the Yule Ball.” I never realized this, that is hilarious to me 😂

Goyle Sr. most likely bullied Peter at school. Just because Peter is helping Voldemort doesn't mean he likes the Death Eaters as people.

DANG. J figuring out that the reason Harry can't have these good fleshed out relationships is because of Voldemort really got me. This poor sweet boy's life will never not break my heart

Hats off to Neville... Most people I know who have made huge mistakes would have just sat there looking around and not fess up to the fact that he was at fault... He continues to show why he is in Griffindor, just like standing up to the 3 when they were headed out in book one.

I just always assumed Peter biting Goyle was like Impostor Moody saying “If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s a Death Eater who went free.”

For me the footrest on brooms is as simple as the matter that you have footpegs on motorcycles even the professional racing ones

@christinapolander4025 2 years ago

Thought occurred to me that never did before. We learned from a letter from Lily that Surious' first gift to Harry for his 1st birthday was a broomstick. Then his first gift out of the prison to Harry is another broomstick! 😢

Thought you'd pick up on the point that Lupin's face was pale after seeing Harry's patronus... first time he's seeing "prongs" for a long time. It would have taken him by surprise and hit him hard.

I'm sorry but no. Ron isn't being a "butt" about it. This is perfectly reasonable reaction, and he would be justified in cutting his relationship with Hermione for the rest of his life - if Scabbers was actually a rat. It is 100% Hermione's fault, because she had completely disregarded Ron every single time he asked her to be mindful of his pet. Hermione litetrally didn't give a damn if Scabbers got eaten, just because "well it's a cat thing to do" - these are the worst types of pet owners, just because your pet instinctively wants to hunt, doesn't mean that they HAVE to hunt, you provide them with food. Also I bet Hermione would very quickly change her tune if Ron had a big dog trying to eat Crookshanks.

Episodes are getting progressively longer and I’m here for it

Invalidating Ron's feelings because it's just a rat is so rude. If Crookshanks ate Hedwig and Hermione refused to apologise for not looking after her damn cat,you wouldn't tell Harry to "shut up" about his owl. Scabbers was Ron's pet who his older brother gifted to him,there's massive sentimental value there. Stop invalidating his feelings and making excuses for Hermione.

Edit: Siris' brother gave his life to get the locket. I imagine Kreacher realises what they're trying to do matches up with Sirius' brother's goal and gives them the locket,explaining the context. At which point,they take it to Dumbledoor and he works out what's going on

They’re not footrests, they’re stirrups and they are used to maintain balance

@kimberlyrose1812 2 years ago (edited)

Even the actors had footrests because it was unendurable without even for some minutes. Imagine day long games... even in the first movies. They just edited them out. Just as the bike seats they actually sat on.

Speaking of Penelope Clearwater, I have a theory on the Quidich World cup tickets.
Hermione's ticket was supposed to go to Mrs. Weasley, but she found out Arthur got them through a bribe & declined. The extra ticket was going to go to Penelope, hence the extra tent for the young couple, but they P&P broke up, and Ron suggested Hermione as Lee Jordan and Luna Lovegood already had tickets.

I always thought the reason why Peter bit Goyle was because he was trying to protect Harry and Ron from being in trouble for fighting on the train. My second thought was that he hated Goyle Sr too.

@thirteenthandy 2 years ago

That dream of Harry's, I always just took as his own Patronus speaking to him, wanting to come out. The parallels to Deathly Hallows are striking though, and kind of gives me chills.

@moonmoon4537 2 years ago

I always took Peter attacking Goyle as him standing up for Harry simply because he still had reverence for James.

He joined Voldemort out of fear, not because he believed in his cause. The only reason he turned James in was because he thought it was the only way to keep his own life.

Not sticking up for wormtail here, merely trying to explain his reasoning for attacking Goyle besides ‘Rowling didn’t think of it yet’
