ADDITIONAL NOTE: IF LOMBAXER ORIGINATED IN COMELTLY DIFFERENT DIMENTION, WHY DID THEY EVEN HAVE TO LOOK FOR A NEW PLACE TO GO IF THEY HAD THEIR OWN HOMEDIMENTION FROM WHICH THEY INFECTED OTHER PLACES WITH THEIR OWN KIND?????

This game's story feels like the writers of the game just watched the cutscene's of the old game's on yt..... and then didn't watch them all

I loved the visual representation (graphs with circles) of both different universes! As for all these unanswered questions, I feel like these are things which future games could answer. I do admit that the Lorbs sort of caused confusion about whether or not Rivet is really Ratchet's counterpart, despite the game pointing it out multiple times. Did Rivet end up alone at a young age, that sort of thing. What I personally enjoyed about Rift Apart are the deep subtle tones in the story, that being of mental health.

IT'S HAPPENING. EVERYONE STAY CALM.

Ktoś w końcu myśli o tym bagnie w fabule tak samo jak ja : 'D

As much as I love Rift Apart, I'm inclined to agree. The Lorbs make no sense on a fundamental level. At least LittleBigPlanet is in the R&C canon now. Hope that was worth it.

I absolutely fucking enjoyed this vid! It was just incredibly funny how you delivered all your points across and especially that speed round of glaring plot holes! 🤣 But I also agree, for a story that revolves around being apart of a mirrored dimension of sorts, this game seems incredibly picky about what exactly it borrows from the normal dimension and what not to borrow. Like how did Clank end up rebuilding the Dimensionator from his own dimension that's ... identical to the one from the schematics on Savali? Why did they make Mrs. Zurkon the weapons vendor in the normal dimension when you only ever interact with her at least in the prologue level and end level, especially when she was only ever a weapon to begin with, with that vendor role fulfilled by the alt dimension Mrs. Zurkon anyways? They acknowledge that Drek got turned into a sheep by the Emperor(yeah, that's him at the bar) so I guess that's how Kit started off as a warbot working for him. Why do we only get Skid for the Resistance but not Helga or Al? Why didn't they make Quantum blue instead of orange in order to reference that point TheGamingBritShow made in his 2016 reboot analysis? Is that Zordoom warden supposed to be Lawrence's replacement or something for the Emperor? So many questions and more, that not many people will want to stop and ask. 😔

Yeah, the more you think about the Ratchet and Clank multiverse, the more your head hurts. And if there were never any Lombaxes in Rivet's universe, why is Rivet there?

amazing vid, as a long time fan and after buying a ps5 for rift apart I too was disappointed. But didn't see that disappointment anywhere in the fandom. There are a lot of plotholes in this narrative but also, dialogue wise, I found it pretty boring. Felt like a kids game rather than a game for all ages.

We ARE actually told where the Cragmites were sent to, thanks to the IRIS supercomputer. They were sent to a planet orbiting a dying star in another dimension, and their mood is angry and bored.

"We have a dimension where Artemis Zogg made his own galaxy" you mean the comics? The comics that are canon? They're not a different dimension they're part of the main dimension.

Your headcanon of the hat design being capable of reaching less dimensions is directly debunked by the fact that said hat dimensionator was the one Max used to map out the infinite dimensions. Yes, every single one.

And yes, he literally says word for word that every single one of those infinite universes is mapped out. I wouldn't take the inherent impossibility of that task at face value, it's treated about as seriously as ftl limitations are.

And while I'm already making a comment, ever since the first game it's established that there's an infinite amount of dimensions so it's not a new thing

...

However, I agree with your overall issues in that the base set-up for this supposed mirror universe does not make any logistical sense at all.

If there's no lombaxes the Cragmites would have never been defeated which would have never led to Tachyon making the space pirates which he specifically did to gather materials to betray the lombaxes with how are there space pirates anyways?

If there are lombaxes then why did Rivet's gang all flee to the exact same dimension as Ratchet's gang did as implied by the ending (admittedly by the only two people who wouldn't have any way of knowing that, but still)?

Assuming Rivet's from this dimension and her lombaxes fled too then why was Rivet sent to a swamp planet when Ratchet was sent to a desert planet and their home planet is a desert planet?

Even if we treat Nefarious's "always winning" streak as starting when he became a robot (giving things the benefit of the doubt), why are there no Biobliterators when he would have better resources and the weapon would serve as an effective way of stopping resistance (not to mention this being his supposed overall goal ever since becoming a robot)?

That sheep is confirmed to be Drek but then why is he here given the first game (which lore wise is now some unseen merge of the first game and its movie/reimagining now blegh) had him get Nefarious's help with the Deplanetiser when Nefarious was organic?

If Kit is an alternate dimension counterpart of Clank then is she a Zoni-robot-thing where are the Zoni why are there no Zoni, and if she's not a Zoni-robot-thing and just a robot then why is she a counterpart of Clank?

If the lorbs and the map are by Ratchet's lombaxes then why are the lorbs and the map in Emperor Nefarious's dimension specifically that is the worst possible location why?

If those are Rivet's lombaxes then why is there still a Kaden is she Kaden's son why is his not not even slightly different then?

Very nice vid, I think I agree with pretty much all the points you brought up.

But truth be told, it all comes down to the downer ending of this video – the majority of the audience doesn't care. It's a platformer with fuzzy smiling mascot characters, they want to make it approachable for everyone and they are not putting any more thought into it's lore than they need to… and that's perfectly understandable, it's not like Ratchet & Clank was once high art or something.  For most people the story turned out to be 'fine enough' to compliment a fun platformer game and a pretty looking showcase of PS5's technical capabilties. I wish they went the extra mile for an obsessive (or rather once obsessive) fan like myself, but they're not obliged to do that. And most importantly, the game became a hit without such overthinking. I feel alienated by Rift Apart, I don't see the characters used to know (neither their PS2 nor PS3 selves), but that's how these things go and Rift Apart is basically another soft reboot for the series. Guess that's the weird feeling that fans of the PS2 games had when Tools of Destruction came out and completely changed the tone of the series despite theoretically being a sequel…

Besides, Ratchet's turning 20 next year, this series has been shockingly consistent (plot-wise and in general) when you compare it to Sonic the Hedgehog xD

Holy crap this was really well thought out.

had to rewatch this gem!

Just watched and this was hilarious and also amazing, I’m glad that you decided to at least point out the issues regarding how dimensions work within the series. I think a lot of the problems sadly can really be boiled down to how much pressure was weighing on this game. Not only did Rift Apart have to
1. Continue the Future Saga story and reinforce its themes but it also had to
2. Reintroduce the series to a whole new audience AGAIN by essentially creating Rivet & Kit so they’re the only characters that sort of got more development besides that like one scene for Ratchet & Clank.
And 3. It had to be a launch window title that is exclusive to PS5 so they hAD to do all of the dimension portals opening etc to show off that fast SSD

I’m sure there’s even moRE reasons, this game had a lot of rewrites as it was being developed and the original pitch idea was just having an evil version of our main duo but it clearly got wayyy more complicated as it went along. The whole Rivet thing is so frustrating because you can easily make arguments from BOTH sides, she can be her own lombax from Ratchet’s dimension (or lombax dimension whatever) but she also clearly parallels Ratchet?? Just like EVERY character in her universe parallels his universe. Does that mean there are multiple different lombax dimensions where one was Rivet’s and the other is Ratchet??? A lot of these problems definitely happened through this impossible weight this game had to achieve which I’ve feel like I’ve come to terms with. Anyways sorry for this long ramble, good video! 💀💀

You’re telling me Ratchet and Rivet are just friends and same version them self did see they just friends brother and sister relationship he always has Talwyn

Rift apart may Have good graphics( even though i Have problems Which I will list later) and a good gunplay It lacks everything Else that makes a good and exciting classics.

Rift apart may has good graphics but It lacks world interactvity, when a game like half life from 1998 has a more interactive world and less than half of budget or  Technological advancements that RA Have It really screams what the game is, the game world feels fake and lifeless It feel like shopping decoration, sure its pretty but lacks meaning and personality, and the Disney-pixar style is Very Soulless and corporative ( the Very same thing that the ps2 classics  were trying to criticize). The game also feels really repetitive because of the ai and enemy Composition, in a game like Halo were you most of the time Fight against two enemy factions the game (in this case im refering to Halo combat evolved) because the covenant enemies Have really diferent Silhouettes and behaviour From one to the other, like grunts are Cannon fodder, jackals are scouts in the Battlefield, elites the mirror of the player, Hunters the heavy units, while in Rift apart the enemies not only feel like bullet sponges but also there ins't much Variety in their ranks MAKING the game feel like a Shooting gallery.

Well, of course there are some plot holes, but they were always in this franchise. I think that quite a few people noticed it, but they are not talking about it, because it’s not important. It’s an imaginary universe in which a lot of bizzare things can happen. The most important things are characters, overall plot and the comedy.

I think that developers put a lot of effort and passion into this game. It was actually a hard task to do a game for a long time fans and for the newcomers, but they nailed it.

So yeah, there are some issues, but the game is self aware and logic of the multiverse is not the most important or even needed thing. That’s just my thoughts though:)

Why did you sent that to Insomniac?? Why are people so mean and  bad really

Girl, you put more passion, love and innovation into this analysis than RA writers into their game story. We don't deserve you. 💛🤍
