This is how the average hunter hunts. The ones who don't have sponsors and endless money.

Looks like normal 21st century  hunting to me.  It also looks like a pretty enjoyable day in nice weather.  One thing I did learn more recently though is that deer can apparently see blue, when I think of all the years I hunted them in jeans.

That actually looks restful and an enjoyable day afield.

Appreciating the background of the video, a lot of my friends, now deceased, shot during the 1930s. In reality pigeon shooting was much as it is today except that the gear was made of wood and not plastic.

A lot of us in the US will still hunt like this as well. There are a lot of tasty game birds in the Great Plains region that live in the brush; Especially North American Pheasant and a good bit of quail. Rooting them out the old fashioned way is the best way to go over uneven terrain.

I'm surprised that Paper Hulls are not making a comeback. The whole eco friendly thing.

A good dog was essential; it was usually the family dog too. I'm one of those old folks who hunted partridges, hares, and pigeons with a shotgun without an ejector. The only thing I never used were cardboard cartridges

Where you going, this is how us commoners hunt with shotguns now lol

I own some of such old Side-by-sides, made in Suhl, and I'm very proud of. Chambered in 12 gauge, they bring the Brenneke slugs about 50 meters in a beer mat sized target. First barrel (right side) choked 1/4 ,3/4 in the left, otherwise by alternaring barrels the right one in 7 x 57 R . Very very nice handcraftet guns at all !

This is how we hunted in the 60s and 70s good video brought back some good memories, kept us fit but unfortunately not much food

Don't forget on my side of the salt river many deer have also fallen cleanly to a shotgun. I am so jealous that you can find 65mm shells so easily there but I wouldn't trade my firearms privilege for them!

That's how I still shoot now a lot of the time. No camo!! It's just fun getting back to basics.

I usually do this, its a great way to spend the day and go to the pub after

Hunting like it's 1930...  well that describes most of my forray's into the wild woods.   ^~^

Great video. I just bought an old 16 gauge Sauer & Sohn  double barrel shotgun and love it. It's different and takes some time to get used to but then its awesome.

Nothing like a side-by-side.

Theres really something about hunting that makes you think about back them. I have a 1904 forest and stream . It a kick to see the prices and availability of the guns and ammo. Available of handmade items that would be 10s of thousands todays or just not available at all. Some things have gotten better, but many have not. Thats for sure.
Best heirloom i got is my great/ great grandfathers gun. Union machine make, double barrel 12ga. Put food on the table no doubt in upstate Vermont. Try a job to hold and feel

Thank you so much for sharing your thrilling pass hunting experience. You brought back wonderful memories for me. Today, I am 70 + years old. From the age of 15, I have practiced this type of hunting hundreds of times. Starlings, common grackles, farm pigeons and American crows were our favorite targets. We only ate the pigeons. The others left on the ground filled the plates of foxes and birds of prey. The slenderness of our equipment gave us the flexibility of movement essential for this type of hunting. I learned one important thing while practicing this type of hunting: the colors of the clothing, whether light or camouflage, are not decisive for success. The latter is fundamentally dependent on remaining still while waiting, especially in the shade of a tree, which is the icing on the cake... After all, birds don't stop themselves from flying over fields with bright colors, like yellow.... Merci beaucoup

There's something about hunting as simply as possible.

I have a 1928 Vapen Depoten with 65mm chambers. It is a wonderful handling gun. The design is a pretty standard A&D box lock with double wedge and Greener cross bolt lock up and full by full chokes. The only downside is that ammo is virtual unobtanium in the stores so I have to hand load.
