Welcome to the journey of TØP. This is the duo for over thinkers!
Tyler is the key mastermind, writes, produces, vocals, multiple instruments - piano ( self taught late high school) , bass, ukulele, percussion, synth, basically anything. Gave up a basketball scholarship for music.
Josh is the drummer, trumpet , synth. Tyler's best friend and stabilizer since early 20s. They're both very techy. Josh is more punk vibe.
I dove into Stressed Out about 15 months ago, now my favorite obsession LoL
Multitudes of interviews and silly videos with these guys. Very mental health/family focused. Columbus Ohio. Then there's the 10yr story/lore arc across 5+ albums. Known for epic concerts.
Enjoy...

Overthinkers unite! You're gonna love their discography. Every album has a bit of everything but in general, if you want deep lyrics, do Vessel next. If you want punchy beats, do Trench next.

Their lyrics are deep and can mean many different things simultaneously. I've been a fan since their early days and I still find new meaning sometimes! And I relate differently today than I did 15 years ago. Tyler has said that he hates explaining the meaning of a song because whatever it means TO YOU is what it means, and I love that. He writes things vaguely on purpose to be interpreted in whatever way resonates with you at the time.

Which brings us to The Lore. Basically there's a fictional world with characters that represent different things... It's all a metaphor for mental health, faith, and just coming to terms with who you are as a person.

You don't NEED to dive that deep to appreciate these guys, but just be aware that some lyrics won't make any sense without that context. If you DO wanna dive that deep, there's a playlist on their channel called The Story that has everything you need in the right order 😊

The Clique will show up for your TOP journey if you choose to take one! We generally love nothing more than watching people have their mind blown by these two. Thank you for sharing!

you’ll get crazy reacting to Trench, absolute art

Best I've ever heard Twenty One Pilots described is "Schizophrenic Pop" because of how much they genre blend coupled with the fact that pretty much all of their music is mental health focused.

Can't believe you've been sleeping on this amazing band. I'm one of the old heads you refered to earlier. Came to you through your Pink Floyd reactions some time ago. I discovered Twenty ∅ne pilots shortly after this album came out. They, Tyler, is the real deal. His lyrics are dark and introspective, and much of it deals with his own struggles with emotional instability. You got to watch him perform some of these songs live. He exudes a barely controlled intensity that can and does pop out at any given moment during a performance. Check out the live version of Heavy Dirty Soul. Or better still, you can check out their entire set at Lollapalooza Chicago 2015 here on YouTube. He opens with HDS, and goes through most of this album.

And you must check out "Car Radio" by them. Preferably the video. Outstanding!!

P.S. Josh is an absolute beast on those drums!!

So the band is a duo we have Tyler Joseph the lead singer who also plays piano/keyboard, bass guitar and the ukulele and then we also have Josh Dun who is overall an amazing drummer and has sung on a later album breach on a song called drum show but he can also play the trumpet, they are both from Columbus Ohio and it’s very rare that someone hasn’t heard stressed out as it has over like 3 billion streams and was on the US billboard charts for ages so it was also on the radio all the time they actually won a Grammy for that song in 2017 there such a talented band and my favourite band off all time i really recommend checking out more off them!!

Twenty One Pilots are the best band I've heard in 20 years. They don't have a bad album, they don't even have a mid album and Tyler Joseph is a genius.
