All it took was a trip to the ALCS to get them to make a video about the Rays, despite being phenomenal ALL FUCKING SEASON LONG. They're not breaking baseball, they're actually PLAYING it.
The Rays and Brewers show the world that you don't need to always swing for the fences or having 9 players worrying about launch angles!! You can win games by knowing your role, putting the ball in play, pitching, playing defense basically all of the fundamentals that's everything team should be doing!! If they actually try to play the long ball every time they clearly will not be the same team and I love it!! Finally teams are starting to realize this BS about launch angles is not everything
The Rays are proof that moneyball can still work even when every team has a sabermetrician on staff
There's always going to be things that the current baseball culture values more than others, and that is going to lead to some skills being undervalued
Me watching the Rays sweep the Yanks IMMEDIATELY after PDE did an entire bonus episode on why the Yankees are gonna win the World Series this year đź’€
I love the Tampa Bay Rays and the way they play ⚾️! This video describes the Rays so accurately! I really enjoyed watching and listening to it. I hope the Rays will now stop being underrated by most baseball commentators .
I started Little League many decades ago. And while the ciaches could not give you talent, they gave you great feedback on fundamentals; hitting and fielding. This Rays team shows proof of great FUNDAMENTALS being drilled into them from the Rays Staff. Take a bow. And it starts with scouting and building. Kudos to the Rays management in signing the right, teachable roster. This team makes me appreciate watching baseball again. Go Rays!
The Rays just realized that everyone else sucks at playing baseball outside of power hitting, and just decided, "f it, just put the ball in play and theyll mess up"
This kind of reminds me of how the Buffalo Bills figured out that passing is a good idea back when the NFL was addicted to maximizing "time of possession," and no teams other than the Bills would try to score quickly by leaning on the passing attack. The Rays figured out that a team will score more reliably, when the team has a lot of players getting on base and advancing on sacs, stolen bases, etc. The rest of the league is in a competition to set records for solo home runs, but a ground ball single with runners on 2nd and 3rd scores twice as many runs as a solo home run.
High school home run champion Ryan Vilade & where did Victor Mesa Jr come from? All the platoon guys did their job this year and we have 3 relievers stretched out starting for half year. This just might be the year. Go Rays!
