In today’s video, I read three books written by cancelled YouTubers: I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson, My Diarrhe by Miranda Sings/Colleen Ballinger, and Reaper's Creek by Onision.

If a comedian makes the same joke too often...it isn't actually a joke. It's a confession. We've seen enough examples of this being true in other comedians by now.

I'm surprised you didnt mention during the Miranda section that a canonical part of her character is that her uncle is grooming+molesting her but of course that's all dumbed down to "creepy uncle lol!!!"

I remember seeing both the Shane Dawson book and the Miranda Sings one at the same time at goodwill. It felt like environmental storytelling.

You're really empathetic and it made this video (esp the dunking on Onision) very cathartic.

Also, THANK YOU for bot playing a clip of the banana song. I'd have had war flashbacks to being 12 and hearing it multiple times a day at school.

2.5 for shame’s book is extremely generous 😭

Oooh I wasn't expecting you to branch out into commentary but I'm kind of here for it??

I tried going back and watching Shane Dawson's old videos one day and was genuinely so disturbed.

You said ‘patreon’ in reference to Onision and his patreon kombucha rant came back to me so vividly it was like a mental flashbang

Head’s up, Reaper’s Creek is a third book of a trilogy of fictional books from Onision. The first two are Stones for Abbigale (where a school shooting occurs) and This is Why I Hate You (where the MC is a military badass)

A channel called MichaelLeroi actually made a series of livestreams reading Reaper's Creek from beginning to end. Combining them all, it took them over 16 hours to finish it.

All of these people are actually so shitty 😓I'm actually heartbroken for their kids because it'll for sure impact them in some way. Also these books are total cash grabs.. 🥲

Unrelated to YouTubers, but the last section where you especially struggled with Onion’s book, I was wondering if there were any books that helped you get out of a reading slump in the past? I read voraciously when I was a kid, but now I can’t seem to find anything that I can get into, commit to, and enjoy. Just curious about your thoughts and experience :)

Thank you for your sacrifice in reading Onision's book for this video😔🙏

I would highly recommend Krimsonrogue's videos on Onision's initial book trilogy. He goes in-depth on why each one doesn't work and takes a lot of notes. One thing that makes Reaper's Creek even more mockable is that Onision keeps bringing back certain archetypes in every one of his books. His protagonists are always downtrodden until they're suddenly badasses without buildup, they always get laid despite lacking believable chemistry with their love interests, they always hate religion, literally every father introduced is abusive, and in 2 books there's a weirdo best friend named Davis and David respectively (yes really) who worships the protag. Also, they're all riddled with typos.

You're on your way to half a million or more subs, I see it man I really do! Your stuff is already so well written and presented, can't wait to see what the future holds for you
