The DARK Ending of Gargoyles Nobody Talks About!

Backstage Tales

Revisit one of Disney’s darkest and most emotional cartoons ever made… Gargoyles was WAY deeper than most of us realized as kids. From betrayal and genocide to trauma, loneliness, and revenge, this series tackled themes most cartoons would never touch. In this video, we break down the tragic story behind Demona, the emotional scars carried by Goliath and the Manhattan Clan, and why the ending of Gargoyles was far darker than fans remember.

If you grew up watching Gargoyles, this video is going to hit completely different as an adult.

1:40 This is the heart of this show. It treated it's audience as intelligent and developed it's characters over several episodes. Nobody got the reset button at the end of an episode. I still use it as the standard of good storytelling.

Demona final appearence was in the third season of Gargolyes in "Generations." after that she wasn't seen or heard from ever again in the rest of the episodes which leave an unsolve mystery of what became of Demona after the series is finished.

What chilled me about all of this was that Disney changed the animation the last couple seasons, which even as a kid that loved this show like so many others stopped watching and couldn't take it serious. And the fact that I was a child and coming to that realization speaks volumes of how Disney fucked it up

It still is my favorite show

I don't know what you mean about Gargoyles not having a happy ending to the series. It was a spectacular ending. At the end of season 3, the gargoyles saved a train load of people from going over the edge of a bridge that was just destroyed a few moments earlier. Everyone on board, plus a news camera crew, showed up at the ending as Assistant District Attorney Margo Yale, publicly recanted all of her months of negative comments about the gargoyles and declared them heroes. The crowd behind them cheered them on. As the scene ends, the clan now face a new future, co-living peacefully with the humans they had sworn to protect. No more be hunted and feared. Through Goliath's perseverance and leadership, the clan had finally gained acceptance. Now tell me how THAT is a bad ending to the series.

I always rooted for Brooklyn and forever will. He's a great guy and i wouldn't mind making him a Friend :) Gargoyles was one of those series that really hit home in a special Way :)

That thumbnail is so cursed 😅😅😅 I know the writing really suffered in the Third Season but I still look back on it with mostly fond memories, Xanatos is still one of if not the Best Antagonist to me, no other can top him because no other had an actual gambit named after them IRL! Respect to the Xanatos Gambit 😎😎😎

Thanks for a great video BT and have a safe, cool weekend all 💙🐱💙

I thought the Gargoyles show was the best show from Disney. Deep stories, legends, myths, mystery, magic and nobility!!

I must say that the video is very interesting, and this was a series that greatly marked my childhood, showing each character's journey to adapt to a new world, even addressing controversial themes like the careless use of weapons. I confess I expected a happy and definitive ending, but I believe the series kind of showed that acceptance is a long process where we must first accept ourselves in order to be accepted, like the guragulas.

Yes, because Demona did lose a lot because of her Immortality like she lost Angelika who traveled with her until she died that she refused to take Katana who would become Brooklyn's Mate with her.

That 2nd season was phenomenal. Such a sprawling Shakespearian saga, and yet easy to follow. Pity that they couldn't keep that energy going in the "Goliath Chronicles:.
