The High ranking gave "unofficial orders", which means that those orders weren't to be public, only officers (from Lt. and above) knew about the orders to not make prisoners, because all the US military Police would only be on Normandy after the front line was stable, so that means at least after D-Day +2...
Until then, they weren't authorized to make prisoners...

According to Winters, Spiers executed the POWs.

Basically that was a necessary action as portrayed here, the officers were given orders to not keep prisoners as to not waste manpower babysitting technically POWs since they were still surrounded by the wehrmacht and was waiting for the beaches to link up and push to the secured points cleared by the paratroopers, so yeah tough luck for the ones captured by them.

90% of the paratroopers were unaccounted for. There was nobody available to secure and care for prisoners. And this was before the Geneva Convention established rules of war.

There should really be a ? mark after that video title. It was never determined definitively one way or the other that he really did it or if it was someone else. Thus the whole show taking the approach of not actually showing the act on camera and instead implying it through sounds off camera.

I'm suprised that some of you never heard of that!!!!! Later in the war in 1944 in Ardenne battle, all those MP's which are German they are either born in the US and did the FolskDeutche  or where living for some time in America in order to soak up the life and everything!!!!!
