Wow, very impressive. That was a clean and well organized teardown. Yes when you got to the end, I said, was it all really necessary? I learned on YouTube to put a vice grip on the alternator nut and pull back-and-forth to check the end play and I found that is a good indication of wear. I had one that was .013 endplay. The engine was making a bit of noise so I decided to pull it and have it rebuilt. It runs nicely and more quiet now however, the oil light still comes on when it’s hot as it has since I’ve owned the bike for a very long time.
hi its a early crank and the early crank is narrower than the late crank by 80 thou and the early one has a ball bearing instead of the roller bearing the float on the early crank is taken up with ball bearing has it has on lateral movement end float the ball bearing should be a c3 type of that clearance and every rarely have I seen a shim cup fitted if not ever so the end float should not be a concern with that bearing, plus I would change the pump for a DD.pump or a cast Iron type pump its a an higher volume type the one that's in it now is the one with the small gears and less oil pressure.
It is hard to comprehend why this geezer & also many others fail to use the law of gravity in their favor when tacking these jobs. So at 10.30 he is trying to pull the wrench bar up or push it forward, when he should have rotated it another 15 or so degrees counter clockwise, so that he is using both his body weight & the added down force of gravity when trying to undo that flywheel nut. Why such folk fail to apply simple logic so as not to struggle amazes me. I've also seen other geezers attempting to undo wheel nuts & struggling by pulling the wheel brace or lug wrench in an upwards direction, instead of using their body weight & gravity by pushing down on it instead. There was a geezer in another bike video doing just that same mistake, when trying to undo a motorcycle rear wheel axle bolt, and was literally lifting the bike off the paddock stand in the process, instead of pushing down onto it. The bike nearly ended up going over on its side as a result of such stupidity!.
