Highlander Lore

Henry Cavill's Highlander reboot has finished filming in Hong Kong, giving us even more new footage! In this video I take a look back at the London, Scotland, Poland, and Hong Kong shoots and determined what we can learn from them given all that we've learned since production on Chad Stahelski's Highlander reboot first began!

My name is David McMurdo and welcome to Highlander Lore where you learn the deepest Highlander lore from a Highlander! I make videos that explore both the original Highlander universe and that of the Henry Cavill led Highlander reboot!

It is nice to see the new Highlander.

Over 500 years old could still mean he was born in 1518. in 2039, he'd be 521 years old. So there's nothing slipped really.

When this video was released, I had been in Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel and, days before, at Eilen Donan Castle with Queen in my ear.
The Highlands are even more beautiful, than I have remembered, and now I really can’t wait to see this new movie! My heart stays in Scotland.

I'm so glad The Watchers are represented in this movie (but by god I hope the facial hair on Irons and David B get touched up in post lol)

Well, I saw Adrian Paul at the Mad Monster Con on Saturday. He was very friendly and polite. Very cool. Lambert was not there, still recovering from collapsing at the previous convention. I couldn't speak to Adrian long but I asked if he or Lambert had a cameo in the movie and he gave me the standard 'you'll have to see it to find out.' Oh well.

Thanks for all the videos. I have been a Highlander fan since the beginning.

Even if the new movie has Connor still born in 1518 that's over 500 years. 508 in 2026 and 522 by 2040. So when Cavill says his character has been alive for over 500 years it can be true without any changes from the original.

Even the costumes look like they just came off a runway at Milan Fashion Week. They don't look like battle-hardened immortals who have survived centuries; they look like models posing for a magazine. The original Highlander felt real because it had grime, tragic loneliness, and a genuine sense of warrior's honor. This reboot is sacrificing soul and dignity for empty, stylized aesthetics.

Henry Cavill is a worthy successor to Lambert and Paul. I look forward to it!

I can get behind the movie being set in 2040, but as the big geek I am, I want the Silvercup fight scene to still be set in the '86. Maybe Brenda didn't make it? Maybe the Prize wasn't won?

Oh no... I had more to say, but I JUST learned Dolly Parton died. I am officially in mourning now... 😢

Thanks for sharing these behind the scenes
views. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

They absolutely need to keep the samurai sword as an integral part of the character, it just wasn't the same with the claymore or those silly daggers that Duncan fannied around with in The Source...

Your vids have made me more excited than I was initially, which already quite positive. Now the wait to release truly begins

Please make a ‘Episodes of the TV show to watch to get ready for the movie’ video. I don’t want to watch the whole series, but I’d love a curated list based on your excellent insights.

I'm torn. The movies have sucked so bad but I believe in Cavill. He's walked away from projects that refuse to stay true to the lore so that gives me hope.
