"The silent killer" — that's what rescuers call carbon monoxide. This transparent, colorless, and odorless gas can only be detected by a special detector. Therefore, a person doesn't even realize they're in mortal danger, loses consciousness, and dies.

Sumaya was miraculously saved from this fate. The sixteen-year-old girl went to the bathroom one evening. There was a gas water heater there. Due to a faulty ventilation system, carbon monoxide had accumulated in the room.

Sumaya's parents found her unconscious, lying in cold water, her body convulsing. She spent several weeks in intensive care, two weeks on a ventilator, and after emerging from a coma, Sumaya could no longer walk or sit independently, barely spoke, didn't recognize her loved ones, and needed help even with meals. Until recently, Sumaya dreamed of becoming a graphic designer; she drew, made plans, and made friends. Now she's having to relearn even the simplest things.

Fortunately, full recovery is possible—and Sumaya has already proven it. After several rehabilitation courses, she began sitting independently, learned to transfer from her bed to her wheelchair, stand with support, and take a few steps. Three- to four-word phrases have appeared in her speech. She can once again answer questions and perform simple actions.

Now, the worst thing that could happen is a break in rehabilitation. Sumaya's brain continues to recover, but this requires regular sessions. A long break will lead to a setback and the loss of previously acquired skills.

But how can she continue her sessions when the next course costs 2,494,800 rubles? Sumaya's parents wouldn't be able to raise even half that amount, even if they sold everything.

Watch this video to learn what Sumaya is going through right now, how the brain recovers from such damage, and why it often feels like a miracle. And then help this girl return to a full life: your donations, views, likes, and comments are very important.
