It’s not stupid at all! It gets insanely addictive when you realise the impact it has on others as well, i cant count how many times i had my entire day switched positively because of a small nice encounters i had with strangers or fellow students. Keep going buddy :)
Well done, Michael! Small talk is the start of a connection. You are saying, in substance, to your colleague, “I see you.” So many people feel unseen or feel dismissed in this world. Keep the momentum going, the more you practice, the easier it gets. 👍
You are super cute. You should have more confidence in yourself. You seem like the kind of smart, responsible guy that anyone will be lucky to have someday.
Young man... Congratulations on breaking out of your shell. You need to be very, very proud of yourself. You are hearing from someone that was in that same boat early on in life. We hear so many phrases like taking baby steps or dipping your toe in the water or taking that first jump.... This is all part of life and think of yourself as a seedling that grows into a small plant and develops into a small tree that transitions into a large oak. It takes time to develop, and you are developing. I am so happy that you stuck that toe in the water.. Keep going, my friend, because as you do so, it will become easier to carry on a conversation with someone, whether it is deep or just small talk. Be proud of yourself.
You should be proud of yourself because you are not only talking about you, you're talking about me. I'm not much of a talker either. Never have been but those short talks are very cool. For me this started in Jr. High. I'm not much for crowds either. So stay proud and keep on keepin' on as we use to say.
You did the right thing, because you can "break the ice" with small talk, and that can lead to more important "deeper" talk later on. Very well done. Keep it up. And don't be afraid to speak to people, even if it is just about trivial things like the weather, because the more you do that, the more you will start feeling comfortable doing so. Plus, you'll find that people are usually open to talking more than you think they'd be. Be safe, Michael. Peace.
When I was your age, I could not get to the level of talking to people on a small talk basis. I regret that time in my life. Now that I'm past my prime years, I talk to anybody. I wish I was more open and extroverted when I was younger then I would have more friends and life would be brighter. Go ahead, there is nothing to fear when talking to people. They will admire you especially when you initiate the conversation regardless how awkward.
One thing I liked about Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz is that the result didn’t pretend everything could be fixed with one simple habit. It seemed more focused on identifying patterns and showing why certain coping strategies might suit some people better than others.
I have never met you or seen you online before watching this video, but Im super proud of you, when I was your age I was cripplingly shy and hardly spoke to anyone apart from friends and family 😊 its great you are making yourself speak to people just take it in small steps and you will be a chatterbox in no time, Im 60 now and will chat with anyone lol 😊❤
Good on you Michael! Small talk opens doors to friendships you may never have dreamed possible. You come across as an extremely nice and likeable guy and I'm sure your co-workers recognize that about you.
You're showing self reflection with thoughts of more meaningful conversations. I'd imagine you have a wealth of thoughts and feelings to explore w another. Small talk isn't trivial. It's just a hello. Who knows, you just might have brightened that person's day simply by showing some interest. There's a lot of lonely out there. So keep at it, you're doing great! 💖
