It’s crazy because we have a convicted felon who will soon be inaugurated while these men who are risking their lives to clean their record can’t get hired after completing their service.

Imagine how bad American prison is when dudes are out here saying that sub minimum wage slave labor is better because at least people treat you like a person

They tried to share their food. After working so hard, sleeping on the ground, not being able to shower. Some tacos must be one of their biggest comforts during this time, and without hesitation, they offered to share that with a stranger.  I think that says so much about what we've allowed to be normalized

He’s literally doing better journalism then 90% of mainstream media

Abolish slavery. Support prison reform.

The fact he called out Hasan for the 'stale' statement might have been the biggest compliment. The guy felt at ease enough to poke fun at him.

Thank you for giving them a voice. I'm the son of a CA convict who was screwed over for the rest of his life after he was out. We need reform.

This video is so crazy because you can tell theyre all hesitant to talk bad about anything because theyre afraid of losing their slot.

The man sending a heartfelt message to his daughter made me cry, I hope that they're able to see each other soon

The man saying hello to his daughter broke my fucking heart. I hope he has the chance to lead a good life ❤

Its the way the interview changed from Hassan interviewing the intimates. To the inmates asking Hassan for life advice. Its a little touching

I’m proud of you baby bro. The family can’t wait to have you home…#freekimbo

I've never seen journalism like this Hasan. I know he doesn't consider himself a journalist but even in the first 10 minutes of this video I had realizations I had never even considered. Thank you.

I don’t think people understand how heavy this is. The Second Gentleman said he got 17 years and went in when he was 18. This is the fucking problem with the whole system. He also said “we didn’t receive this love growing up”. He is not unique and is definitely a victim to his circumstances and had to do things to get by. Just so heartbreaking man

As far as I'm concerned, "minimum wage" needs to be literal, and without exception.  At the very, very least these firefighters deserve to be compensated like any traditional job

My aunt used to be an incarcerated firefighter. She went to jail when I was little for drugs (marijuana at the time was illegal in Cali) she was incarcerated for like what felt like 6 to 7 years. We visited her whenever we could, she’s very sweet. But she fought those fires with all her heart. It was heartbreaking that after prison, she wasn’t allowed to continue her firefighting journey. She thought fighting them in prison, being given the opportunity to learn about firefighting, would allow her to apply when she got out, but because she had a record they didn’t accept her anywhere. She does construction now, but she still talks about how she’d love to be a firefighter.

Here in Germany they often complain about not enough volunteers joinging the firefighters, in California it's straight up 40% slaves. Crazy.

an embarassing day for main stream journalists everywhere, as a twitch streamer absolutely dunks on them

I was a child in the juvenile justice system. I was liberated at 17 years of age. Now, I've been studying criminology and psychology for almost 5 years now, and there's so many talks of prison reform amongst other criminologists. But there are no outside voices loud enough to induce change. We can write a hundred studies supporting prison and inmate reform. But the government will never listen. So, it makes me happy that our largest left-wing political streamer is giving inmates and reform policies more spotlight.

The people offering their food made me cry.. they have nothing and still are willing to share. Free them
