I'd say they made him black as an alternative to giving him personality, but nobody in this movie has personality, so that argument really doesn't tread water.

Officer woman, and officer black guy are their actual names. I watched the movie and it was very bad, and those were their actual names.

There's only 2 types of independent films somewhat decent ones and absolutely God-awful to the point where you thought they wer deliberately making a bad movie.

The one nice thing I can say is at least when the alien took the guy's gun at least he actually used it unlike other movies where they stab or whack the victims (ex. Halloween and Friday the 13th, can't remember which)
