I live in Ithaca  and I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, Cornell is full of privileged rich kids who often think they can do whatever they want and they’ll get away with it. I have to tell you, two years ago we never heard about this..locally it was never made an issue. But this is typical . If you’re not on campus you hear very little yet taxpayers fund the burden of campus services . Cornell has never paid its fair share to help support city services. It’s a travesty.

Grape is a complex trauma,  that never leaves the victims mind or body - it unravels randomly and constantly for the rest of their life.
"Involuntary paralysis" YES! Literally physically and emotionally, not knowing what to do (get to safety/ work out what happened/ stop the nightmare/will anyone belief this nightmare?).

Isn't this a Tort case? Why didn't the girl go back to the DA?  Anyhow, as Billy pointed out, she will most likely get a settlement, and the lawyer is gonna get paid.

She was asking Engels why there were so many people there, her lawyer doesn’t seem well spoken but it seems possible there were more and she remembered later…. Unless you’ve been there it’s hard to understand the fear and denial.

The only way you will change this is to get women to hold themselves to a higher standard for themselves - not anyone else but for themselves!  If you allow people to treat you poorly, not all will but some will. Believe people when they show you who they are! Men (or women) who never have a mate/partner, who sleep around with different people all the time - to a large extent are telling you who they are with their actions. At some point they may want something different, but until there is a change in actions, they probably aren’t a safe bet to have sex with if what you REALLY want is a relationship.  Don’t lower your standards in hopes of changing another person. The only one who can change someone is that person themselves. You lowering your standards will not, 99.99999% of the time, result in the other person changing who or what they are. Too many women do that & end up with depression, low self esteem, self loathing & self harm in some cases because they end regretting their actions. Until women (& quite frankly men as well) quit lowering their standards for casual-hoping-for-relationship  love, then people will continue in this never ending cycle. Most of us kind of grow out of it but some never do. From what I’ve read, seen & heard about this case, I think this is the situation that happened at Cornell. Jane Doe wanted John Doe # 1 but consented to the other acts to appear “cool & aloof” “not looking for anything serious” which is prob what John Doe #1 said he was looking for & she thought she could change that.  When he didn’t come looking for that & the gossip started, that’s when things turned.  It really changed when she was uninvited to the Halloween party & she felt rejected by the whole group, not just John Doe #1. It’s a situation that never should have happened but we all know happens everyday but it regret doesn’t indicate a crime.
