How a ketamine-fuelled gang rape case divided America | The News Agents

The News Agents

How did a woman who consented to sex with one man end up being allegedly raped by seven? Why was her 'availability' shared on a frat house Snapchat group? And what do newly released phone transcripts tell us about what went on in the subsequent weeks? We delve into the horrifying Cornell University rape case that has divided America and ask how Trump has, once again, decided where the nation’s sympathy should lie.

Later, why is it all kicking off on the streets of France and Spain? Student protests have created violent clashes with police. And the Spanish demands for better housing have led to a snap election. What is it all about?

Emily, this isn't just a problem with women who attend University - this is a problem across the entire United States for women of all ages, ethnicities and walks of life.

Institutional betrayal protects abusers from all and any consequences. Therefore, abuse thrives.

New York law really needs to change because it's simply impossible to give informed consent if your judgement is impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Of course trump should voice his opinion he's an expert on arpe. E j carroll and the former mrs trump have both suggested his level of expertise.

Why is it a surprise that the economic and political elite in the US are all for committing s*x crimes when the occupant of the highest office in the land is an adjudicated s*x offender? Americans are just living by the example set for them.

Basically the plot of Promising Young Woman...

If she was so up for it why did they have to sedate her?

Thanks John, but I prefer my politicians boring after having to watch the consequences of having a, lets say, extremely colourful president in the White House. I’m British, but am still incredibly invested in watching all that is going on in the USA as Trumps actions are affecting the whole world. I long for a day when I can wake up and not be bombarded with crazy news from the White House and its inhabitants. I could imagine that a large part of the world feels this way.

The snapshot chat alone has her objectified and dehumanised this not on the girl, appalling behaviour

What’s so chilling is that Winston guy was so nice and normal on the call referencing “everything she’d been through” but 100% enthusiastically complicit in making it happen. That’s is chilling stuff, that someone can seem so normal, when they’re actually so dark.

Divided. As in
Normal people and
Psychopaths.

One thing to remember that you are talking about America were "anything goes" more so under trump

The problem is there was no independent investigation. Everything was burried and mishandled. Most are not saying that whenever there is any accusation you should just put people in jail.

What is Jon looking at when he speaks? Does he not know where the cameras are?

Remember rpe within marriage wasn't illegal until Trump boasted that he regularly forced himself ( and beat up ) on his wife Ivana and it wasn't illegal to do do so. New York law was changed partly BECAUSE he rped his wife and it came out in the divorce proceedings.

Moral injury has driven people to suicide. I have yet to hear or read any discussion of moral injury and its reach.

If Trump says Letitia James is corrupt, she's probably a saint.

Men are NOT given anonymity until, trial or conviction in this country. They can be named from the moment they appear in magistrates court. The alleged victims have lifetime anonymity. I teach this every week to journalism students. Also anonymity is really nothing to do with prejudice, more to do with libel and privacy.
