The SkyNomad N90 is Xiaomi's new flagship large family SUV and the first Xiaomi vehicle to use an extended-range electric powertrain (EREV). Unlike the SU7 and YU7, which are positioned more around driving dynamics, the SkyNomad series was developed around a completely different idea: maximum interior space, flexibility and the ability to transform the cabin for different situations.
Xiaomi says the SkyNomad project was developed over approximately three and a half years. The new Kunlun technology architecture was developed from the ground up starting in early 2023, specifically to allow a flat floor, long seat rails and highly configurable interior layouts.
The result is a full-size 7-seat SUV measuring 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width and 1,825 mm in height, with a 3,080 mm wheelbase.
POWERTRAIN & RANGE
The N90 Max is an extended-range electric SUV.
It combines:
• 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol range extender
• 76 kWh ternary-lithium battery
• Dual electric motors
• All-wheel drive
• 310 kW peak system power
• 5.9 seconds 0–100 km/h
• 190 km/h top speed
• 60-liter fuel tank
The claimed range is up to 464 km on the CLTC cycle in EV mode and up to 1,705 km CLTC combined.
Xiaomi also claims a depleted-battery fuel consumption of just 6.26 L/100 km.
CHASSIS & DRIVING
The N90 Max is not simply designed as a large family transport vehicle. Xiaomi has equipped it with a fairly sophisticated chassis:
• Double-wishbone front suspension
• Multi-link rear suspension
• Air suspension
• Continuously variable damping
• Four hydraulic bushings
• R-EPS rack-type electric power steering
• Bosch ESP 10.0
• Bosch DPB intelligent brake booster
• 255 mm front / 265 mm rear tires
Xiaomi claims a 5.95 m turning radius and a 100–0 km/h braking distance of 38.57 m.
SAFETY
One of the major engineering stories behind the N90 is Xiaomi's new Kunlun safety architecture.
The body uses a steel-and-aluminum structure with approximately 90.4% high-strength steel and aluminum by weight.
Key structural areas use ultra-high-strength 2,200 MPa steel, including a long reinforced structure running through the passenger compartment.
The N90 also features:
• 12 airbags
• 9 collision sensors
• Long 3,030 mm side curtain airbags
• Three-row side-impact protection
• 39 anti-pinch protection points
• Multiple emergency door-opening redundancies
• Up to 750 mm claimed wading capability
• High-voltage battery protection systems
• Solid-state rear LiDAR
Xiaomi says the vehicle was developed to C-NCAP five-star and C-IASI G+ standards.
INTERIOR & PRACTICALITY
Xiaomi claims:
• 2+2+3 seven-seat layout
• 2,760 mm of cabin seating space
• Up to 1,831 liters of cargo space
• 690 mm low cargo floor height
• 1,193 mm wide tailgate opening
• 9-liter refrigerator
• 16-point massage for the first and second rows
• Zero-gravity seating
• Ventilation and heating
• 25-speaker Xiaomi audio system
• 4,890 W peak audio power
• 7.1.4-channel audio architecture
• Multiple rear displays and control screens
• Up to 220V power output
• 6.6 kW external discharge
• 12 ecosystem interfaces and 14 power interfaces
The N90 can also be configured for camping, working, relaxing, entertaining passengers or carrying large amounts of luggage — which is essentially the whole philosophy behind the SkyNomad series.
