secret letterboxd hack: if a movie has an average rating ranging from 3.5 to 3.9 it will likely change your life

@_gorezone_ 3 months ago

Give every movie 2.5 stars and no review. Maintain balance.

You're so right about thinking of your one-liner review ten minutes in and it ruining the movie for you. Especially if you get to the back half and realize your one-liner doesn't even apply anymore, so now the whole thing is a wash.

The description of the types of reviews is so spot on.

4:16 You forgot about the people whose top 4 is just 4 movies they watched recently and liked

Letterboxd made no sense to me until someone referred to it as twitter for movies. Then it clicked.

3:59 this is unironically a top tier spread…

peak top 4 formula is 1) rewatchable fave, 2) comfort/nostalgia pick 3) critical darling (proof that you know ball), 4) current obsession. extra points for any picks pre-21st century :P

@ErikChampney 3 months ago

3.5 movies are some of the best out there.

@lvpvsmalvm522 3 months ago

Omg yes. Why does every review of any film ever always have to be ‘well they’re secretly gay for each other’ 💀

Copied One liner joke = 100s of likes

Well thought out and intricately written review with analysis and thematic resonance to art and the industry = 7 likes.

A funny one sentence review you thought of 10 minutes into the movie and kept trying to think about and it eventually distracted you from actually watching and enjoying the movie so you just have to write that as the review because you can't talk about anything else because you weren't even engaged with the film after the 10 minute mark because you were just thinking about the funny one sentence review the whole time. is absolutely my favorite method, and I may steal this for the next movie I watch.

I totally reccomend opening the notes app and write down all your stupid one liners during the movie and then look at it afterwards so you can put focus back in

@PersonOfTheInternet280 3 months ago

You can get people to read your long reviews.

Simply only follow people who also write long reviews, actually read there long reviews and like and comment on there long reviews.
