WHAT’S IN MY PACK? | 96 Miles & 28,000ft of Ascent | Tour of the Lake District
This September, to mark my 40th birthday, Rose and I will be taking on the Tour of the Lake District — a 96-mile traverse linking the major valleys and towns of the Lake District.
We’ll be following a high-elevation variant, taking in a large number of Lakeland summits along the way, with roughly 28,000ft of ascent across the full route.
In this video I go through everything I’ll be carrying for the Tour.
This definitely isn’t an ultralight setup. A big part of the route will be spent high in the fells, with several wild camps and the possibility of exposed summit camps, so I’ve built the pack around being light enough to cover serious mileage while still carrying proper shelter, waterproofs, warm kit, navigation, emergency equipment and enough gear to look after Rose properly as well.
There are definitely lighter ways of doing it, but for this trip I’d rather carry a little extra weight and have a setup I know I can trust if the weather turns.
The Tour is also raising money for two charities that mean a lot to us:
Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary

Mountain Rescue England & Wales

Any donation, large or small, would be hugely appreciated.

Good luck for your trip!
Youll either be doing it or have done it whilst we watch this. I hope you have an amazing time and I’m 100% sure you’ll do it ❤
I am seemingly very local to you as a I know Bleakholt
I haven’t used a paper map in 6 years and managed to get about it. Just lucky I guess 🤪
Where you starting from?
