This video focuses mostly on the advantages, disadvantages and overall usability of the Lumix S5 vs. S9.

Also, I was wrong about the original S1. I believe it can accept CF Express B cards with the most recent firmware.

I will never replace my traditional A-cam body with something like a more compact S9 due to the lack of proper grip alone. The lenses i use aren't small either. I like the balance of a normal body. I also prefer a camera with mechanical shutter and EVF for photography.

Also use s5 cameras, but for light walks and inconspicuous video around the city I keep on using two gx85. Have been eyeing the S9 as the full frame image from Panasonic is clearly more pleasing (although I still struggle to pinpoint the cause of the difference), with the new small lenses I guess it’s time for an upgrade, except for the 100-150 range, that stays with gx till some pancake telephoto surfaces.

Great vid, similar journey to me at the moment. A couple of notes, the OG S1 does accept both CF Express Type B and XQD. The S9 is great, my most enjoyable camera. However I will likely replace it with an S1IIE. The build quality is just not up to par, the back dial will fail eventually, but perhaps more crucially it only comes with one card slot, which is always a worry for me.

Isn't XQD the same as Cfexpress type B?

Maybe not if you're using five other cams? 😅

I have both. The S9 is technically my backup camera to my S5 but also vice-versa. The S9 is the better camera for video; the S5 for photo. The S5 also wins for outdoor and flickering environments.The S9 wins for autofocus. But both are good enough in all areas to replace the other.

I’m disappointed with the S9; after a month of heavy use for photography, it started glitching after I’d carelessly left it in a bag with other items for a few days. It’s my first camera, and I didn’t realize it was so fragile.

it can replace s5 (not s5x) but its not nice to Work with. bad ergonomics, lack of buttons and dials, worse build quality but its cheap so it can be an alternative for some.
