Some very intelligent people are very good at imagining possibilities, but terrible at judging probability.

Dinesh D'Souza: "you spent 30 minutes on this contradiction I have never heard about!"

I'm afraid it's a bit more surprising that a flight to Egypt to escape a massacre directed at Jesus is left out of three of the Gospels than you're acknowledging here.

As Dan McClellan says: some people like to gin up the slightest excuse for "not impossible."

Last time I was this early, I had two synoptic versions of Genesis

Hey Bart, from your Farewell Speech: "Arguments from silence are not very powerful."

The other problem is Herod the Great died in 4 BCE, his son Archilaeus ruled until 6 CE, the Roman governor of Syria, Quirinius, took over and conducted a census in 6 CE. Those events are in Roman records,
and completely messes up the biblical narratives.

This is hilarious Bart is quite taken back by Alex’s wittiness 😂 it is correct to say “they will say anything! To get around this” paraphrased of course

the concept of “conversational implicature” would be helpful here

Denying that Jesus did not fly on the Flying Spaghetti Monster to Egypt, America, India, Venus, Mars, Alpha Centauri, and the 5th dimension is also an argument from silence.

I think if God truly inspired the Bible, he would avoid contradictions (or at least perceived contradictions) and inconsistencies, merely so people wouldn't be distracted or put off Christianity by them.

Inconsistency and contradictions are exactly what one would expect from a man-made book.
