Look, as someone who dissociates a ton from being emotionally abuse, Josh vlogging constantly makes complete sense to me. It puts a buffer between you and reality when you can’t cope. And then you add to that the fact that Colleen had to be nice to him when he was on camera and he could avoid abuse by vlogging. I totally see how constant vlogging easily becomes a comfort and coping mechanism.
Hey man. Totally understand how it seems like the last thing I said to her in person felt like a dramatic teen movie. It’s all true though.
The night I rushed home after Vidcon and then the last time I spoke with her in person were on two different days. Swoop’s vid had to condense that part of the interview.
Playlist happened next when I received the texts from Steve and Nikki.
As far as the timeline goes: Vidcon night with the empty house smelling like cigarettes and alcohol happened. Tensions were high after that. Then, Playlist happened where the texts were revealed. I went home and confronted her knowing she had been lying to so many people. We had a few days of conversations that didn’t go very well. Then, she made the decision about divorcing me and how quickly the papers would be filed… and how she was making her video soon. I asked for a few days to get all of my stuff together after she told me she made the decision to divorce me. The day she left the house to give me that time is when I turned and said that to her before she left. It was the final time I ever saw her in person.
The text came a couple of months later after she threatened me with lawyers. That was my final communication with her ever.
Both stories are true, regardless of how cringey or dramatic they sound.
Just thought I’d give more context, bud.
Also, your rendition of my old song was hauntingly beautiful yet funny at the same time.
Josh not telling Colleen he was on his way & walking in on her in the act would've definitely been an epic TV show sort of moment, but this is real life, and it makes far more sense that he felt (unjustifiably) guilty about potentially tricking her and came clean about coming home at the last minute. i feel i would've done the same thing in his shoes. it speaks to his moral character — despite everything she did to him and lied to him about, he still couldn't bring himself to lie to her.
I feel like people really forgot that Josh was emotionally abused him for literally 9 years. So when we are asking why would he tell her he was coming, we need to remember he’s a victim.
I will never judge someone for recording their wedding. I will, however, judge Josh for VLOGGING DOWN THE ISLE. 🤣 I’m on Josh’s side in everything else, though.
Man when josh drove home to catch Colleen he could have made a “surprising my wife by coming hime after a show!” And filmed the whole damn thing and caught her ass
Kinda feel like when he drove home from vidcon and was trying to catch them and then ended up telling on himself, i think he chickened out. I mean that in the most respectful way possible. I think he knew exactly what he was going to find and he probably had building anxiety the closer he got, the worse the anxiety got. By the time he was 15 minutes away he couldn't take it anymore and realized he didnt want to know and gave her the heads up. I think it was breaking his heart and he just couldnt face it. I think that's really relatable and understandable.
"Why would Colleen lie in a text to Shane Dawson"... I would say it is because every relationship Colleen has is a manipulation with the goal of boosting her profile and getting others to help her. If she can get the support of some of the top YouTubers behind the scenes, she is going to say and do anything she can and throw anyone under the bus to achieve that.
I absolutely believe Josh, that Colleen completely made up the trashing the room story on the honeymoon and it wasn’t even close to what happened. I know people are used to exaggerating or bending the truth. But some people really do make up bold faced lies that have no basis in reality, and they don’t hesitate to spread those lies. Those people are terrifying, but they absolutely exist. No part of me would be surprised to find out colleen is one of those people.
Whether or not that was literally the last thing Josh ever said to Colleen, I can believe that it's the last thing he remembers saying to her. Especially because you can tell he's spent a ton of time processing all of these events and going over and over it all, so it makes sense that some less relevant or important moments might be superceded by bigger things like him finding her that night.
