The Surabaya City Government is reminding residents to exercise caution when seeking employment through domestic worker placement companies (P3RT).
The Mayor of Surabaya emphasized that ID cards (KTP) and diplomas are personal documents that cannot be used as collateral in the job placement process. Prospective workers are also asked to read and understand the contents of the contract before signing it.
This warning arose after a resident reported being unable to return home from a P3RT company in the Gayung Kebonsari area. The Surabaya Manpower Office (Disperinaker) then followed up on the report until the resident was able to return home.
The Surabaya City Government is also coordinating with the East Java Provincial Government and the Ministry of Manpower to strengthen oversight and evaluation of P3RT companies.
Do not allow workers' personal documents to be withheld. If you encounter any suspected violations, the public is asked to immediately report them to the authorities.
