As a Devils fan, I obviously root for bad things to happen to the Rangers and Flyers. But never injuries. I hate this for Igor and all the team and fans, and hope him a fully and speedy recovery. We want to play the best, at their best.
As for the Flyers’ start I hope everyone agrees that that’s hilarious and beautiful and I hope they get worse (just not by injury).
Was actually nice to see the Rangers turning it around to start the year. I love Igor. He's a fantastic goaltender, and the way he started the season was out of a storybook. It really hurts to see him go down like that. You always want to see the best playing the best. I hope that whatever it is he's dealing with won't harm his career in the long term.
I feel for Igor. Losing an entire season is heartbreaking. Even as a fan of a rival team, I wish him the best possible outcome from this. Most importantly for quality of life, not just hockey. If the Rangers did trade for Hellebuyck, what would the package even look like, regardless of whether it is a smart move for NYR or not?
If anything, I could see Rangers taking a chance on Binnington if the Blues give him up for next to nothing, since he only has this season left on his contract. He's been bad, but maybe the change of scenery bump works, and there's no commitment if it didn't
As a Rangers fan I'd rather see how Garand plays out for at least a month or 2 before they try anything crazy, you're never gonna get a better chance to evaluate if he can stick in the NHL. As you said this wasn't a cup or bust year for them, they're the youngest team in the league and this year was about getting the team back into form. At the very least I think this team is better suited to handling this situation vs last year when Igor got hurt, so hopefully they don't just bottom out. And who knows maybe Garand gives us a season reminiscent of Talbot
As for a backup id love to see Quick suit up just until Korpisalo was ready if he was willing, but it sounds like Martin is getting called up
Was at the game, and it always sucks to see someone get injured like that, and it feels worse with it being Igor. Im a Caps fan and was glad that the arena cheered him on and with applause.
It really sucks that Igor is out for the season. The Rangers had to expect a kick in the teeth hitting the top end of the rebuild. It always seems to happen that way. The hockey Gods are arse-holes the majority of the time. They seem to like it that way.
Thanks for the coverage Eck; you're doing a great job.
No one should want Connor Hellebuyck after the shit he's pulling currently. Is he a good goalie, absolutely. But he's basically a liability if theres even a chance he'd do that again. He should get what he deserves and not make a dime while no one wants him.
He's been one of those goalies that everyone can love regardless of who your team is. Sure, you might not be a fan while he's shutting down your team, but even then, you gotta respect the skill. Really don't care for the Rangers, but Shesty is one of the players I respect the most in the league. Wishing him a smooth and speedy recovery
