The light finds its way down. 🌲
A cedar forest in Japan early on an autumn morning, still full of white mist.
The trunks go straight up out of sight, ferns and moss cover the ground,
and broad shafts of sunlight come down between the trees and land in warm pools on the forest floor.
A wandering ronin sits on a flat mossy stone in one of them, hat and sword set down, eyes closed.
He didn't do anything to make the light arrive. He just got here early and stayed.
This piece is inspired by "KOMOREBI" (木洩れ日) — sunlight filtered through leaves.
Japanese has a single word for it, which tells you how long people have been standing in forests noticing it.
The canopy is thick. The mist is heavy. Neither of them is trying to let the light through,
and the light gets down here anyway, in its own time, at its own angle.
Shakuhachi moves like air between the trunks — cool, low, in no hurry.
Koto lands the way light does on moss: scattered, warm, asking nothing.
Nothing here builds toward anything, because nothing here is working at it.
This music is suitable for
😴 Falling asleep and staying asleep
🌲 Early mornings before anyone needs you
🌿 Deep work and long focus sessions
🍵 Waiting for something to clear without helping it along
Let it play. You don't have to force the day open —
the light finds its way down, and it will get to you too.
