Honestly, this film has the perfect tone imo. The balance of genuinely funny humour, while still retaining the threat level of the main villain is so well done. Perfect casting and such a great score by Danny Elfman!

K's talk with J on the bench is one if the best interactions in film history.
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."
Also this is probably one of the few stories where the Men In Black are portrayed as a benevolent conspiracy, rather than a antagonistic one.

Shortly after this film came out my parents decided to get a dog and ended up being a pug. They ended up naming him Frank after this film. He was the best boy.

I just realized that over the course of the film the skin-suit of Edgar is actually slowly decaying because it's supposed to be actual skin of a once living person.

Sees Tony Shaloub
“That is definitely an alien”
Bro didn’t have to do Monk like that haha

You are 100% on the money about films. Little details matter. The small things that catch the audience's attention just for a moment that build on the world. A lot of modern blockbusters seem to only put in small memorable details if they're foreshadowing something, and it's frustrating, because you realise they've not put thought into the actual worldbuilding of the film. I can give a brief overview of a lot of modern Marvel films. But I can tell you essays worth of stuff about the original Matrix film, MIB, and so on, because the world is fleshed out through these little details

Absolute classic film

15:24 probably because the lemonade doesn’t have any sugar

Ooh I hope you get to watch the other two movies

Tbh the 3rd MIB is probably my fav and most rewatched so i cant wait for Seb to give it a watch.

I love D’onofrio in this film.
He’s utterly convincing as a giant bug in a skin suit 😁

a lot of people make fun of j for how awkward he's acting, but, if you think about it, he's shown himself to be the best suited for the job.

-they were specifically given flimsy pencils and cheap paper to see how the would adapt under disadvantageous situations, and j is the only one who proactively tried to do something and improve his situation
-it also show's that he isn't intimidate by what others may think of him, since he's still perfectly willing to do it, even if he get's strange looks for it
-similarly, him shooting the girl, instead any of the monsters, shows that he's both incredible perceptive, being able to make out all the books she's caring during the circumstances at the shooting range, and that he isn't beheld to prejudices and judges others based on looks, which is an incredible valuable skill for someone to have who has to deal with a multitude of aliens on a daily basis.

he was the only one who showed proactive problem solving skills, which means he's the most suited for the job.

Back to the future part 3 please.

Fun fact: Vincent D'Onofrio A.K.A. Kingpin himself, who played Edgar The Bug, research his role by watching a lot of bug documentary.

9:59 he aced every test. He paid attention and asked the real questions, also great at problem solving and thinking. Aliens hide in people, Tiffany was definitely hiding something. The only thing mentioned was his problem with authority.

PLEASE WATCH THE SEQUELS!!
Men in black 2 and 3 are also amazing! Men in black 3 is my personal favorite!

That is indeed kingpin. Vincent d'onofrio. A fab character actor. Check out another early film. Full metal jacket.

I'M SO HAPPY you got to this franchise Seb!! In my opinion, 2 is the weakest but you have to watch it to get to 3 which is an absolute MASTERPIECE! Some people tear up a little bit at the end of 3 :) can't wait <3

the timing on this opening with whats going on in the US 🤣🤣

4:36  It actually slowly decomposes over the course of the movie, but it's rather subtle until it becomes particularly noticeable the last few seconds the Bug uses it.
