Am i the only one who thinks removing that candy apple red color is a crime?

Came out great! When you broke through the primer into the red finish, part of me wanted to see that as the final result.

I occasionally buy black guitars when the price is right, however, every time i do I dream of painting it ANY other color

I like to use a 2-part polyurethane clear coat. It is more like a plastic and is very flexible. It works with any other kind of paint and its great for mixing in additives like metal flake or pearl to spray between colors and final clear.

600 or 800 grit is fine to give the next coats enough to bite onto. Use 1000 to smooth out any drips or orange peel. After wet-sanding I usually wipe down with a cloth dampened with dish soap water to get oil off. It won't eat through anything like a solvent. Then clean water after the soap.

I've always thought an 'everything-black' Tele with a maple board had a great look; understated but ballsy at the same time.

Very cool! Black on black Tele, humbucker in the neck position, and an expert paint job. Still, part of this was sheer horror for me. whenever you went back to sanding, I was like "oh shit, here comes that Muppet band music again..."

Nice job...personally I would have refinished it in the original candy apple red colour, but what the customer wants, the customer gets. Very informative. Will be helpful in the future for this amateur. You must have a right arm like Popeye's after all that sanding!!

I painted my motorcycle petrol tank. Took advice from a spray painter. I used spray cans. I heated them up in hot water for 15 mins, then painted on the primed tank. While the paint was still wet, I sprayed it with the clear coat. I honestly thought I had made a total mess of it. The orange peel was terrible. Then about ten minutes later I couldn’t believe the finish. It all seemed to melt into itself, and the finish was incredible. I honestly didn’t need to polish it or finish it in any way, but I gave it a quick polish, and it looked amazing.

this 1080p... is it pixellated for anyone else?

Very nice job on the finish. I would drink for a month if my refinishing turned out like the one you had here. Difference is you very calmly put it back right, and a month of drinking doesn’t sound bad.  🍺 🤘
