Slughorn is a prime example of all the positive traits in Slytherin. His ambition while at the expense of others, was never malicious in nature, he was cunning and shrewd to see the potential in others regardless of blood purity.

"Be brave... Like my mother". Gets to me every time. My mother died of cancer when I was younger and that line always makes me tear up.

The best name ever “Slug Club”

Nobody:

Movie flame: shows Japanese schoolgirl for slughorns friends

Harry: Sir... I was wondering if you could tell me about horcruxes

Slughorn: ah sh*t here we go again

Slughorn has the personality traits of a perfect sugar daddy

I feel so bad for him. He was used and was never appreciated by his loved ones in his life. He was self made and worked really hard.

Horace's redemption arc is one of the more interesting, never a bad guy but made some really big mistakes; did the right thing in Harry's last years at Hogwarts.

Horace Slughorn is DEFINITELY the most wholesome Slytherin ever

Best part about this comment section is that there is not hate 🙏🏻

“Merlin’s Beard.”

It's important to remember Slughorn is from a pre-Voldemort Slytherin. He's an older model we don't see again until Leta Lestrange in the Fantastic Beasts series.

You should do the life of professor Flitwick if you haven't done it

Voldemort still would have made Horcruxes even if Slughorn didn't tell him, especially since he already had a decent understanding of them. His goal was to beat death. He would go to great lengths to ensure his questions were answered.

Professor Slughorn is actually one of my favorite HP professors, and perhaps one of my favorite HP characters overall.

I always loved Slughorn's character, he's a brilliant example of Slytherin's more positive traits ; Resourcefulness, cunning and opportunistic tendencies but not oriented towards evil-doing at all, just a great wizard overall :)

Hello, interestingly, Horace Slughorn psychological portrait matches the so-called "inverted narcissist" type (or "narcissist by proxy"). Those people tend to stay on the back line and avoid competition, but enjoy the company of people they deem important or powerful. Furthermore, they tend to actively seek close relationships with grandiose narcissists (Voldemort has obvious traits of narcissism, along with antisocial psychopathy).

I love his character so much. I always imagine how it felt to see his favourite student as a monster, someone told me nothing causes more pain to a teacher than seeing his students fail.
