American Reacts to UK Football Chants… WHY ARE THEY SO GOOD?! 🇬🇧⚽

Runaway American: UK Edition

Today I’m reacting to UK football chants, and I finally understand why British football culture is unmatched. 😂🔥 From Premier League chants to iconic fan songs and stadium-wide roars, these UK fans turn every match into a full-blown concert. The energy, the humor, the passion, the creativity — it’s honestly unbelievable.

As an American, I had NO idea football chants could be this catchy, this loud, or this funny. Whether it’s club chants, rivalry songs, or those legendary British banter-filled lyrics, UK fans bring a level of atmosphere you just don’t see in American sports.

I’m reacting to some of the most famous British football chants, fan anthems, stadium vibes, and supporter culture that make English football feel alive.

👇 Comment below: Which club’s chants should I react to next — Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Celtic, Rangers, or someone else?

Literally one person will start to sing and then everyone joins in. It's great fun 😂

“You’re nothing special, we lose every week” 👌😂😂😂

Just as a side note, home and away fans are separated to minimise any issues. So its very common to banter with the opposite fan, also all chants just happen.... no rehearsals

The one that always gets me is the lets pretend we scored a goal from the supporters of a team that is getting hammered, typical british self deprecating humour. seen it about 70 times and still laugh at it.

I remember back in 2005 I took my eldest lad to Old Trafford for the first time, he was 5 years old at the time.
My brother (a very respectable, polite, well spoken successful man) got us the tickets.
When we got back from the match my lads mum asked him "how did it go"?
And her replied "mum you wouldn't believe it, even uncle Sean swore".
Football brings out the neanderthal in even the most civilised of us.

12:55 Don't feel bad for Jimmy Savile, he was the most prolific SA offender in The UK, using his position of power at as TV presenter it was hidden for years (wasn't it BBC?).

The guy in the yellow jacket 6:57 , is a Football Stadium Steward, who had a canny resemblance to our former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Apparently one of the Stewards colleagues asked him if he wanted to be moved to a different part of the stadium, he decided and said he was enjoying it.
This chant was made up on the spot.

The best bit about the Boris chants was when the supervisor came over to ask him if he wanted to move, and he was happy to stay...

Thing is the majority of kids the UK have been taught in school to sing hymns in unison so that is a natural thing to join in

In all walks of life in the British Isles you have to have a thick skin. People will see if they can get under your skin but if you can take it and give it back they will love you forever more. They'll respect you. It's a test.

The Fergie chant is for Darren Ferguson (son of Sir Alex) and refers to a domestic violence incident involving his estranged wife

What happens most of the time is a small group of 'mates' make up a chant and if it's good everybody else picks it up too, you can start a chant yourself and if it's good people will pick it up.

Football has about 10 melody of chant and someone in the crowd will start one every 3 minutes when action isnt hapenning on the pitch. If its a bad chant then no one joins in, so the more creative and on point the lyrics, the more the crowd join in. Its almost part of the sport at this point
