A couple of facts you missed.

1. The four biggest Welsh clubs, Cardiff City, Swansea City, Wrexham and Newport County regularly qualified for the UEFA Cup Winners Cup via the Welsh Cup. This route was stopped by UEFA after the formation of the League of Wales.

2. Welsh teams that win a major English trophy, Premier League, FA Cup or League Cup qualify for Europe bur they represent England when they do so.

I’d love to see a video on why Bayern Munich are so overly dominant in the Bundesliga, both historically and at present, lacking a true rival that is consistently able to challenge them. (Like Real/Barca, Juve/Milan/Inter, Celtic/Rangers, the big threes in Portugal, Netherlands, Turkey etc.)

Excellent work btw, this channel deserves a lot more views

Cardiff should really be home to an established Premier League team.  11th largest city in the UK with an local urban area population of nearly 500k.  Its a big tourist destination and its a cracking atmosphere in the city when its hosting a 6 nations game, especially against England.  It already has a modern, massive 70k stadium which successfully hosted FA Cup finals whilst Wembley was being re-built and is on the UK motorway network with direct rail to London.  When Cardiff City reached the Prem in 2012 I thought they would be here to stay.
Big underachievers.

It’s kinda like how Canadian teams compete in American leagues. Although, “National” in the National Hockey League refers to Canada.

Swansea didn’t become a ‘city’ until 1969. It was Swansea Town Fc before that.

The situation with Newport in particular is also complicated by the fact that the city is in the historic county of Monmouthshire, which was disputed between Wales and England for centuries and only finally clarified when new administrative county borders were drawn up for Wales in the early 1970s, which included Gwent which was basically Monmouthshire in all but name.

The biggest problem of Welsh Football has been the strength of Rugby Union especially during the first 100 years after the creation of the FA in 1863.
Rugby is the national sport of Wales and was so dominant in many parts of Wales that Football never got a look in. Football really only got a toehold in Cardiff & Swansea (due to being the biggest cities) and areas close to the English border, everywhere else Football was mostly non-existant. Things have changed in the last few decades of course but Rugbys status in Wales is the elephant in the room.

In many ways the the Big 4 not playing in Wales has led to a very different product which in many ways isn't a bad thing where as in Scotland the power of the Big 2 in Glasgow makes the league boring as I know where the title is going after the 1st derby of the season I couldn't tell you that in Wales (Despite TNS's Dominance). I compare the Cymru Premier to the Southern League Premier, I'm paying £7.50 where as a ticket to watch and for that it's good value football. It also means that as an Englishman now living in Wales I can adopt a club in a different system that will never play my own.

The main reason there was no domestic welsh league was that when the clubs were initially founded, there was no domestic leagues anywhere and any that formed in the 50+ years after were not national and were local. So for Wrexham the nearest closest league was Birmingham area and that was almost 60 years after the club had formed.

When the clubs were initially forming it was not about "national" leagues. The football league, also wasn't solely an English league. It was only renamed and changed the "English" football in recent years; the Cymru Prem was only founded because the then Chairman was paranoid that we would lose an international Welsh team (which never would have happened). Even now, althought the Welsh clubs still operate in the Football League they are still governed by the FAW and not the FA.

Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham also have never refused to leave the Football League, they were never invited or asked to join the Welsh League so had no opportunity to decline or refuse. Only the irate 8 actually refused, and were banished. The clubs all played in the Welsh cup, until UEFA made up rules to prevent this, because the FAW decided to form the Cymru Prem.

It doesn't make sense to overlay current rules and league over the formation now because you're talking about something that happened in the 1860s to 1950s.

English clubs used to play in the Welsh F. A. Cup my club Stourbridge did regularly from the mid 70s to the early 90s but if they won it they wasn't allowed to play in the Cup Winners Cup as they wasn't affiliated to the Welsh F. A.

The picture with all the lads standing around the trophy @8:52 is from the League of Ireland not the Cymru Premier

Rugby being the main sport in Wales for decades, particularly back in the day...this was probably a big factor.

There is a political issue left out here. Unlike Scotland, Wales was under full English sovereignty prior to the formation of the British state. It sounds like it has nothing to do with football but since England and Wales have been considered one jurisdiction of the UK as consequence  for example  they share the same Cricket Board

To explain this you need to start with the Roman Empire.

Absolutely brilliant video

I think Scotland and Wales should do cross border cups. Scotland and Wales should co-operate. We should have Wales v Scotland Club Super Cups. Played at a participating team's stadium, with host nation changing each season. The Scottish champions v the top Welsh side in the English league. And the Welsh Cymru Premier champions v the Scottish Second tier champs. Plus the Welsh women's champs v the Scottish women's champs. And a cup between the Scottish Youth Cup winners v the Welsh Youth Cup winners.
Or a Welsh Scottish Premier Cup. With the top 6 Scottish sides v the the top 4 Welsh sides in the English leagues, and the top two Welsh Cymru sides. In a 12 team, 3 groups trophy. The top 2 sides in each group and the 2 best 3rd place sides qualify for a knockout playoff system.

As a Brit, our Olympic football history is all over the place as well.

Props for clearly doing some research on Welsh pronunciation, not something you get from every content creator.

Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things..
