Good interview and cool record shop.

I'm old enough to remember when record companies actively encouraged people to ditch their record collection, and switch over to cds. Which I did.

They even threatened to stop producing vinyl altogether. As a result, I just never had the heart to go back to vinyl.

Having said that, I'm really enjoying your channel.

Damn I'd love to rummage through the used record shops of the UK and Germany - one day!

So glad that you made it down to the shop we live around the corner from it and was able to get our wedding 45 vinyl favours with the help of grant. There is also a small shop in Hinckley which is a smaller version of Vinyl shakedown at the back of a cheese and wine shop on Castle Street definitely worth a visit too

Superb shop and grant and the team are a class act with real passion. I hope we’re here for year 30!

That looked fun, I wish I could visit there!

I like slickness (Steely Dan/Aja).

Great interview. Looks like a good record store/shop. Good purchases and deals, esp. the Cannonball record.

Great interview. Nice to see Sam Ryder doing well after Eurovision..

Been to vynal shakedown absolutely amazing 👍

enjoyed

Been really enjoying both yours and the vinyl shakedowns videos so this was a great crossover for me

Brilliant shop.

Are you the singer out of Coldplay?

I’m a Vinyl Shakedown regular (even though it’s a 90 minute round trip!). It’s a great shop- really good variety- and Grant has had some brilliant collections in recently. The “Six music” one was particularly good if like me you like 00s alt rock Americana style stuff. It’s always well stocked with the classics- Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Led Zep etc but also plenty of less obvious stuff that is keenly priced so you can take a punt on it. Well worth a visit if you are in the area- and the pricing is spot on.

Great video David! It was awesome taking a trip to the famous Vinyl Shakedown. That was a really nice, natural interview with Grant definitely keep doing those!
You made some fantastic picks, especially that Thin Lizzy debut. It’s such a cool, trippy record compared to their later stuff. Also, I just gave that Cannonball Adderley a listen based on your recommendation and it sounds absolutely fantastic! Great find!
Cheers!

I was lucky to meet up with Thin Lizzy at the bar in the Marquee Club London in September 1973.  They were very friendly and easy going.  Always remember their hair.  Had a brief chat with MC5 in July 1970, I was standing outside the Marquee club selling copies of Friends an underground counter culture newspaper.  They were into rebellion and politics, great memories 😊

Great stuff - May I recommend "SO What" by cannonball - Its brilliant

Great looking store. I think its a goid job i dont live close, bankruptcy wouldnt be easy for me to live with lol.

Another brilliant video👍

That does seem like a great record shop.    Have you ever been to Haystacks Music in Hay-On Wye? I normally think of that as my favourite record shop. I've only been to it a few times but each time I have a great experience there. The records are very well priced (or at least they were the last time I was there) and they've always had a pretty good selection. The guy that runs it sits there cleaning records all day long so you know most things you buy have been cleaned. Nall all shops do that.    I've always struggled with Steely Dan. They lack that sort of anti establishment thing in their style which is something I apparently listen out for. Someone once told me that that is in their lyrics but I'm not someone that listens too much to lyrics, my mind drifts and I focus more on the melody. I watched you last night at Andy Edwards speaking about the lyrics on Rainbow Rising. I've played that album thousands of time and never once listened to the words. The music says all I need to know.    I showed that first Lizzy album in my recent video 'Vinyl and CD finds April 2026'. It's great isn't it. I hadn't heard it at all before and like you say, it's very expensive to buy. It gets such poor reviews though so I didn't want to splash out on it only to find it wasn't good....so I got a cheap CD. Go see what I say about it in my video.  Cheers
