We pulled a scrapped Kaiser Jeep M715 from a junkyard to build a modern trail rig with vintage style. Our goal for Project LockJaw was to keep the truck's earned military patina but completely rebuild the mechanical parts. We bobbed the bed by 18 inches to improve the departure angle. Next, we chopped the windshield frame and welded in brand-new steel floors. Under the hood, we replaced the weak factory motor with a fully rebuilt 5.7L Hemi V8. We backed the Hemi with a built automatic transmission and a four-speed Atlas transfer case. Finally, we added heavy-duty Dana axles, a custom fastback roll cage, and a recessed fuel cell. The ultimate test came in Moab, Utah, where LockJaw successfully climbed the famous "Widowmaker" ledge.
