Norman Osborn & The Goblin are the same person but different personalities.  That serum he took made him stronger but also made him crazy as a looney bird.

Tom Holland was 5 years old when the 1st Sony Spider-Man movie was out in 2002.

The MCU hadn't even been created and Marvel Comics (a decade or so earlier) were facing such financial problems that they tried to sell ALL of their characters to any movie studio who would have them.

In the end Sony came in for Spider-Man & it's associated characters and other Marvel characters like The X-Men for example went to 20th Century Fox.

Up to this point the only superheroes on screen had been Superman, Batman, Blade, Spawn & The X-Men. So Sony took a huge risk, it payed off and now sole ownership of Spider-Man in movies and animation will have to be taken out of Sony's cold dead hands before Marvel Studios/Disney have him back because Spider-Man prints money!! 💰💰

Today in 2026 Sony still controls Spider-Man in movies and animation and he is loaned back to Marvel for Avengers movies but all Tom Holland movies are ultimately Sony movies made by Marvel Studios in collaboration with Marvel/Disney but critically Sony calls all the shots and takes almost all of the box office profit

The reason for the jump scares & the dark & creepy atmosphere is because the director Sam Raimi got his start in the film industry by making horror films, more specifically The Evil Dead trilogy with
The Evil Dead(1981)
Evil Dead 2(1987)
Army Of Darkness(1992)
He also made two of my favorite fantasy tv shows with Hercules The Legendary Journeys starring Kevin Sorbo and Xena Warrior Princess starring Lucy Lawless.
They are both pretty good despite some cheesy effects & dialogue in both series.
He also continued the Evil Dead trilogy with the Ash Vs Evil Dead tv show on the Starz tv network which ran for three seasons which was a lot given the subject matter.

33:53 "Gee thanks Spiderman! I am so glad you took me 8 blocks from my house and left me on top of some random building! It'll only take me 3 hours to walk home from here!" 😂

Spider-Man 2 is my favorite. Tom Holland was more age accurate as a freshman while Toby was a little old. But Aunt May was age accurate to the comics. Also in the comics Peter had to make his own web fluid because it didn't come out of him, and the Green Goblin didn't wear a helmet/mask. This was also the comics accurate MJ.

So here we are. The beginning of her Spidey arc.
❤ 🕸🕷🕸  💙

Fact: When Willam Defoe firs did this movie, all his actor friends laughed at him because they said he was "slumming," lol

This one & Spider-Man 2 (2004) is the one of the best superhero movies ever made too

8:40  Before Marisa Tomei, Aunt May was ALWAYS portrayed as an older woman, right from the earliest original comics.  They chose to go a totally different way with the Tom Holland Spidey, starting with there being no Uncle Ben.

garfield and holland both said they grew up on this movie

The MCU - and the entire 20-year onslaught of comic book movies - would NOT have happened if this film hadn't been mega-successful in 2002.  2000's X-Men had previously shown that beloved comics characters could be treated with respect and seriousness in a successful mainstream film, but the boffo box office of Spider-Man was what really opened the floodgates.

And yeah, this film was and is GREAT.  Despite the Spider-Men we've seen since, this flick stands as as important a superhero movie milestone as 1978's Superman and 1989's Batman movies were.  Classic!

I'd been a Marvel fan for decades when this film was in production, and the minute that they announced Tobey Maguire (who I'd been impressed with when he'd played nerdy oddballs in little indie films like The Ice Storm and Wonder Boys) as the star, I knew they were going the right way.  They understood that Peter Parker had to be played by a believable nerd, not a typical movie star... and Tobey ultimately did NOT disappoint!  Basically, every decision that they made about the film was correct, from casting and production design... right down to portraying average New Yorkers as heroic themselves in the immediate post-9/11 moment.

Definitely keep watching all the early Spider-Man versions!

This version of Peter Parker is partially how they saw nerdiness and awkwardness in the early 2000s. Snd it was kindve true. Today’s nerd/geek or awkward person has way more friends and popularity which would make ton accurate for the time.

This is the real original Spider-Man story from the comics, starting 60 years ago. They’ve done a lot of variations, but this is the real one.

Watch the next one. You might like it... 😉

07:21 The spider that landed & crawled on Tobey Maguire's hand was real!! In fact the pattern on it's body was intricately hand painted on 🤯🤯 You would never see that again today with CG being so advanced.

Also in the 80s, 90s and early 2000's we didn't really think too much about older actors playing teens, it was just a given in all media weirdly, funny looking back 😂

51:40.  WALLOPIN' WEB SNAPPERS!!  (That's what Spider-Man always used to say in his animated TV series of the 1960s.)

Love how all the classic Spider-Man stuff is SO classic all the new stuff kinda skips over it, so when Summer watches the old stuff it's all completely new to her.

Yes! Your spider man journey is going to be awesome. The original Raimi Spiderman Trilogy, the Amazing Spidermans, the MCU Spiderman which youve already started and the Animated Spiderverse series. Bonus if you watch the Venom movies.

I finally met someone who says "my goodness" as much as I do 😂
