Mine was Forest of Doom. I was maybe 10 years old, and honestly I cannot describe the sheer wonder I felt when I first came across these books back when there were only 10 titles in print. The magic of the Forest completely transported me away, and in time, the FF series formed the first real longform books I read as a child, setting afire my lifelong love of scifi and fantasy.

We had a Puffin book club in 1985 at primary school.
We could buy 1 book per month.
Most of the boys bought the latest FF; the girls bought boring nonsense like 'James and the Giant Peach.'
Great memories - I had Rings of Kether and a ZX Spectrum also, my friend.

My first was Rebel Planet, will always have a special place in my heart

My first was at the high school library, worlock and citadel...i was hooked. Then my old man who was a printing engineer did dome work at Dominion press where they printed them in Australia and he managed to get me citadel up to island of the lizard king, very happy kid!

My first was Deathtrap Dungeon, I soon hoovered up the rest.

A few years your junior, so first I read was Creature of Havoc (nothing like starting with an easy one).

Our school banned us from reading them, not proper books, apparently 😡

I was never able to complete Starship Traveller. was it actually completable?
