I have a very important update for you today: the rules for how to look expensive don’t work quite the same way they used to.

After years away from this topic, I’m revisiting it because something has shifted. The internet, social media and trend culture have changed the way elegance, luxury and “expensive-looking” style are perceived — and some of the formulas that once worked can now make you look more copy-and-paste than elevated.

In this video, I’m sharing what I think has changed, which style shortcuts are losing their power, and what actually matters if you want to look polished, expensive and current in 2026.

What really makes one look Old Money in 2026 is the face that is untouched by plastic surgery. Unlike New Money, Old Money people look natural, well-rested with radiant and well-cared-for skin.

I've always loved the "old money" look, long before it was ever popular. I started dressing this way 20-25 years ago. I will wear it long after the trend ends. It's just what I like.

Dear Anna, hope you are doing well. Today I bought an iPhone and iPad. I have been preparing for my MD exam which is due at the end of the month. Life has never been easy and I lost myself making things easy for people around me. Finally found some courage to pick myself up and work toward my dreams. I have started investing in myself finally, and it feels great( of course guilt of not been able to please everyone haunts me time to time). Will start exercising once my exam is over , will enroll in driving lessons and hopefully buy a car once I get into med school. Slowly and slowly building a life for myself. You have been a great companion to me . You gave comfort , hope and above all spirit to keep going even in uncertain times .Thank you. I wish you well. Stay happy.

Unfortunately, a lot of people cosplay outfits they saw online that don't fit the lifestyle nor the body type they actually have. When I worked at a warehouse my wardrobe was completely different than now that I work in an office. Our clothes should be practical, express our individuality, and be appropriate for the environment we will be in.

Nothing in my wardrobe is outrageously expensive, but I do indeed have a great relationship with my tailor :)

What's very ironic is that we see this "expensive" "quiet money" clothing aesthetic everywhere online, but I really don't see anyone dressing like it. Even influencers aren't dressing like it. Off the top of my head, Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton dress like this sometimes, but even then they don't seem to adhere to the look 100% of the time. Its like this aesthetic exists solely on Pinterest boards and AI tiktok feeds...I really don't see anyone, not celebs or any common people dressing like this. So whats the point of pushing this look if no one really wears this stuff?

I travel enough to comment and say I never see the “masses” dressed elegantly in beige. Or elegantly at all. So I’m sticking with my monochromatic neutrals and basic elegant formulas! I’m regularly complimented on my outfits. ❤

99 percent of Equestrians are going broke paying vet bills and buying supplements for their horses. They are wearing torn T shirts and smelly barn boots. The topic of the "Equestrian Esthetic" just cracks me up.
