We too want to be right on what the Bible says. Before I looked into Calvinism I attended a church where they talked of grace. A Baptist church. No mention in the service of TULIP, but after a few weeks approached by the pastor and on a couple of evening walks had TULIP presented to me. 2 years later I finally said to the pastor “it feels sinful but if the God of the Bible has made most people for an eternity in Hell the I don’t want to worship him.” Strong feeling took over as I am not fully versed in the Bible, but, I have listened and read enough to know God is sovereign, God gave man freewill, a choice, God loves us but sometimes he does not like what we do. God wants a living thinking loving bride with freewill to choose him, not a readymade lump of clay that obeys out of design. We are so so fortunate to have a God with such respect for our being that God gave us a choice. Imagine that, a God his creation can reject. That’s freedom. That’s love. That’s the God of the Bible, both Old and New Testament. Thank you sir for your video, thank you for being what I believe is an example of the Holy Ghost in full effect.
God bless you and your channel.

Thank you Jason - we have been on the same journey. The more I unlock the narrative arc of the bible through solid teaching (like this), the more I feel excitement for the faith and the desire to tell others. Keep going!

I've noticed that I have been Flo. In history, you mentioned as well.I think it's persisted for so long this go around because of the internet

1. I like the lense and theological framework that you imposed on the texts.
2. The Reformed view naturally thins the herd by eliminating shallow “easy believism” and emotionalism.

Calvinism summarized (TULIP):

T: God decreed for nobody to ever want Him,
U: unless He picked you to want Him back.
L: If so, He'll die for you;
I: He'll force you to want Him back,
P: and He'll make sure you keep on wanting Him back (except if He duped you under his evanescent grace)

@3:35 that's exactly how I came to understand scripture. I didn't consult commentaries or preachers or extra-biblical books, I simply asked God for wisdom, discernment, understanding and insight. I'm not saying I was NEVER or am not sometimes now influenced by extra-biblical sources like preaching, commentaries, or books. During the period in which I came back to my faith, having never studied the scriptures with intent before, I intensely studied and prayed without relying upon other men to help me understand. I distinctly remember when I came across Romans 9 and Paul said, "On the contrary, who are you, oh man..." that I felt like I was at a cross roads because the passage seemed to paint God in a negative light. I chose to give God the benefit of the doubt and assumed that I must've been misunderstanding the text. I prayed to Him about it and then I put the issue aside and continued in my studies. God answered me in His timing, 10 years later and my mind was completely blown at the intricacy of the tapestry of scripture and creation!

I know this is trivial but the movies he's referring to or can't think of are The Stepford Wives and the Valley of the Dolls

Have you already tackled the marketing ploy of the five solas and the resultant errors?

I have been studying this for a long time. Approximately a year off and on. This is the first time I have ever heard this and I may have to rewatch this. This makes good sense.

It would help if the speaker slows down a tad. This is an important discussion that we need to understand and be edified from.

Dave Hunt has a great series called "What Love Is this?" If you want to go deeper on all that's involved in Calvinism !!

@1:10 the idea of being wooed by God prior to coming to faith, which is when regeneration occurs came into my mind just before you said it! That is the relationship we have with God in Christ.

This is exactly what I’ve been wrestling with for the last 10 days. Struggling to connect the dots in scripture. Now I understand. Thank you for this clear presentation.

Also, Who is this man that’s being interviewed by Dr Flowers?

Excellent and extremely enlightening. I appreciate this teaching very much! The book of Romans is finally making sense to me. Thank you for your work on this, and for sharing it with us.

The inconsistency here is you keep saying we need to let the text speak in context and not impose our theological framework onto it, but then you do exactly that. Even if I grant Staples’ whole argument about Ephraim, Hosea, the scattered tribes and Gentile inclusion, none of that removes Paul’s actual argument in Romans 9. Paul goes from Isaac and Ishmael to Jacob and Esau before they had done good or evil, specifically so God’s purpose according to election would stand. He then says it is not of the one willing or running but of God who shows mercy, followed by God having mercy on whom He wills and hardening whom He wills. That produces the objection, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” If your interpretation is correct, Paul could simply answer, “Everyone resists His will, and God is only responding to what the clay chooses.” But Paul doesn’t. He says, “Who are you, O man?” and appeals to the potter’s right over the clay. The Israel restoration material may add another important layer to Romans 9–11, but it doesn’t erase the argument Paul actually makes. You accuse Calvinists of importing a framework while importing libertarian free will into the passage yourself.

The graphic at 48:55 quotes the KJV saying “endureth with much patience.” But my KJV Bible says “endured with much longsuffering”. Did ai make a mistake here?
