Ex-MAGA Insider Reveals What Happens When You Leave Trumpworld (w/ Pedro Gonzalez) | Bulwark Daily

The Bulwark

Tim Miller welcomes former MAGA insider Pedro Gonzalez for a candid conversation about how he got pulled into Trump’s movement, what he saw up close from figures like JD Vance and Tucker Carlson, and why he walked away. Pedro reckons with his own past rhetoric, describes what happened when MAGA turned on him, and explains why the movement’s embrace of cruelty finally convinced him there was no going back.

The far right is cruel to women, immigrants, animals, plants, soil, water, minerals, even space.

Cults get crazy mad when you don't want to cult with them anymore.

I have been radicalized to the left by becoming a father. I'm in a mixed marriage and all three of my children are bi-racial; they can identify as black or mixed, but never white. My current hatred of all MAGA is heavily based on fear of my children growing up in a country based on White Supremacy.

The measure of a man is seeing if he fights just as hard to help rectify the harm as he did, causing it.

as a black person i had a problem not rolling my eyes shaking my head and staring blankly… i think y’all can understand why. However i really stopped in to sincerely congratulate Pedro on his ascent from the depths of maga back to what we currently consider civility

This is a remarkable window into MAGA. Thanks Tim and Pedro.

It’s a party of fear, hate and lies…the end.

THANK YOU for focusing on the insane shit the far right has been saying about women. When you have actual well-known commentators talking about repealing women’s right to vote, and women are getting hammered just as hard in the DEI firing. It’s scary and it’s not getting talked about enough because there hasn’t been as overt as the immigration abuses. But it is coming.

The GOP agenda of forcing women to become second class citizens is absolutely terrifying. 😡

Great POD. Bring Pedro back. Tim Miller's jawline is spectacular.

‘Protecting kids from the left?’ Oh no we want kids to have access to school lunches, strong public schools, clean water, access to healthcare and protect them from gun violence. They say we are too empathetic but also need to protect their kids from us!? MAGA is so irrational and makes no sense. They are so deluded.

As a black man in America who is a father and husband; who has served this country honorably; it’s hard to look at someone like Pedro and not feel angry as hell.

Pedro made a critical point when he identified the rejection of empathy as the key difference between normal human beings and MAGA. Also, how that disdain for empathy underlies MAGA's hatred of women . . .
Racism, sexism & homophobia can't exist unless empathy is suppressed, or absent, as in sociopathy.
Excellent interview.

As a Hispanic male voter, I could see right through trump from before he wanted to run for President. That's why I will never be able to sit at a table with people like Pedro Gonzalez. I am glad the leopard ate his face and I still don't want him at my table. Call me what you want to call me, but that is how I feel about other Hispanics who are like Pedro Gonzalez.

Thank you Tim for this eye opening interview with Pedro.
Empathy is our greatest super power.

As someone married to a Hispanic immigrant, I'll never be able to understand how someone named "Pedro Gonzalez" could be a MAGA Trump supporter. Nothing I've seen in interviews helps me understand that. Exactly which immigrants do they think he's going to deport????
