So I had a copyright claim on this video for using “on our way”  from the FF7 OST during my “nostalgia trip” section.

I used the YouTube AI tool to remove the song, so now that part is just me speaking and it sounds weird. Just letting you know, that’s not how it’s intended to sound. 😓

Another interpretation of “happy to see me?” is that victims of SA will often interpret what people say as having an ulterior predatory motive. So I viewed it as her questioning his “happiness”, but when he says “alive” in a tone of “what else could I have meant?!” she calms down and realises it was indeed meant innocently. If you watch the scene again, maybe you can see what I mean.

Man, that prison. That was among the absolute most scary things I've ever experienced in my life, game, movie or anything else. I was so tense, anxious and loved every single second. Completely blew the original out of the water in terms of ambience, coming from an old guy that's been playing Silent Hill since its inception i can't say enough good things about the remake.

When James snapped at Angela at the mere suggestion that he searched for someone else you can tell his mind instantly went to Maria and how he started developing feelings for her. Even he can't stand the mere thought of falling for someone else than Mary, even if that someone else is his fantasy wife: flirtatious, suggestive and, most importantly, alive.

Man, this remake is something else alright.

Notice the close up of Maria’s bracelet in the Labyrinth scene… this is the symbol of Antimony… in spiritual alchemy this represents thanks to Google AI: In spiritual alchemy, antimony is often associated with the wild, untamed nature of man, representing the primal instincts and "animal spirit" - often symbolized by the wolf, signifying a powerful, free, and sometimes even rebellious force within the human psyche; it can also be seen as a symbol of the potential for transformation and the ability to navigate through the darker aspects of oneself to reach a higher state.
Key points about antimony in alchemy:
Symbolism:
The wolf is a common symbol for antimony, representing the untamed aspects of the human psyche.
Transformation potential:
Due to its ability to create various colored compounds, antimony was seen as a symbol of the potential for transformation and the ability to manifest different aspects of oneself.
Duality:
Like many alchemical elements, antimony embodies a duality, representing both the destructive and creative forces within.

Hmmm the wolf again… remember Laura’s drawing? That’s James… 🐺

I'd like to imagine that james is a customer retention specialist for a local cable company to where he lives. Simply one of the most soul sucking jobs imo

11:19 before you get into the park there's another auditory hallucination of Mary's gasp which you can hear the first time you go to Rosewater Park. It's repeated at around the same point in the tunnel but quieter than the previous time.

40:06 the old steamboat line is a reference to the game’s ending in silent hill the arcade!

We are so back! Thanks for your patience everyone. This video really did a number on me.. I actually had a whole thing where I had to change the editor I was using and learn a new one while trying to piece this together 🤣😅 anyways, I hope you enjoy 💪🏻

1:15:40 I'm gonna guess James worked as a phone sales operator for MyPillow brand pillows

James doesn't really LEAP into the puts-- you have to confirm multiple times (same as forcing the poor man's hands into various holes). It's a cute touch to basically force the player to he a more active participant instead of just clicking 'examine' and being done with it.

....it also makes the final jump in the game, in the Otherworld Hotel, stand out as the single descent where you only click once. James has been hesitant to descend up until that point, but once he's faced the truth, he willingly throws himself into the abyss. It could be an acknowledgment of accepting the truth, although it could also be read as James no longer caring about what comes next. Either way it's a neat, subtle touch.

58:57 the difficulty does match because you’re playing as James. This creature didn’t harm you, for Angela it would be impossible to escape, James is stronger, James can fight back, James isn’t traumatized by it, it’s actually a deeply fascinating combination of mechanics and psychology, since when Angela sees it she enters a “freeze” response, and panics, it’s not hard to fight because it’s expecting you to already be broken, it’s expecting to overpower you easily, but you’re not the intended target

39:42 the game about that ship actually exists, It’s called silent hill the arcade, it follows a tragedy of a character named Hanna, It’s a rail shooter like the house of the dead, it features pyramid head and unique cast of characters figuring out what happened to the ship, it takes place in 1993

I honestly thought there was enough enemy variety. I have played it twice and and the only part that dragged the second time for me was the labyrinth. First run through the game was damn near perfect. The spider legs in the second half definitely make it exciting and different enough in the 2nd half.

57:43

Someone on reddit posited that the fans might represent a fan in the room that Angela would fixate on during her assaults, or even her father's hot breath on her neck, and hearing that made an already horrible scenario even worse with it's realism.

I haven’t finished this section of the video but a cool couple pieces of info I found out about Abstract Daddy, was that Angela sees the monster different than James does, likely because it’s her nightmare, not his. Which is a good explanation, considering Pyramid Head looks far more human and personal, than other monsters in the game.

Also, the idea that James fights the Daddy instead of Angela, may be a nod as to why she can’t leave Silent Hill. She can’t move on since she hasn’t faced her nightmare.

i’d definitely have to agree with other commentators that the “happy to see me?” pensiveness in angela’s voice comes from years of abuse and generally men saying they are “happy to see you” when referring to victims of SA, it hides a sinister intent, “I’M happy <- to see ‘…you’” if that helps sound out why it’s sinister. just really is a great line delivered so well in my opinion.

Thanks for the "personal touch" on the nostalgia of the times we cannot return to ... I needed that ❤

@28:22 there’s something absolutely amazing going on here. Unlike all the other pits James jumps down. This is a long prison hallway put vertically. You see the lights hanging from the roof and on the floor you see debris. So it’s like James is floating horizontally through the prison hallway. I love that detail. It’s so strange

When I first played the remake I viewed the descent from the historical society to the prison as a path to hell that James was following. With the long staircase downward and then jumping into the deep deep holes. I saw it James arrived in hell
