Buggy’s dislike of shanks is initially portrayed as denying him of his treasure.   Decades later, it’s revealed as a flimsy cover up for always feeling like the lesser son to the superior Shanks and always holding him back- especially at Laughtale.

Then at the execution of their father figure, Buggy expects him to be the one to inherit that legacy, only for Shanks unintentionally seems to create the impression that he’s no longer interested in it- betraying that trust and whatever Roger told Shanks was indirectly because Buggy held him back.

Feeling both disappointed in Shanks not inheriting the legacy and that Buggy himself likely caused it- he left to live in a much more meager life so Shanks can somehow achieve greatness because this is what he always does without Buggy.

Now the universe is forcing him into a role on the same level as Shanks and he feels that in his own way, if he’s not meant to be the thing holding him back, then he’ll be a rival to truly show who really inherited Roger’s will.

Buggy's speech in 1082 is the best speech in the whole series. In a story about young dreamers with their whole lives ahead of them like the strawhats who always knew what they wanted and have been consistently chasing those dreams, it's really gratifying to have a dude that's almost 40 saying "Every moment you cling to life might be your last, so why ignore that screaming urge inside you?! If you gave up because the reality of it was too daunting, now´s your chance!" No matter how old you are or how long it's been, so long as you're not dead you can still live the life your soul is screaming out for. Just go for it!

Buggy the Clown, fool of the seas, king of our hearts.

The Buggy-Shanks dynamic/relationship might be one of my favorite things in the whole story.  Two orphans adopted by the King of the Pirates, total opposites in many regards, but brothers ‘til the end.

Sure, Buggy will talk his shit and raise a fuss, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the two of them still share a deep bond. Here’s to hoping we get some more scenes between the two going forward!

Buggy is like the yellow jester in king crimson: the yellow jester does not play, but gently pulls the strings. Smiles as the puppets dance, in the court of the crimson king.

The entirety of Cross Guild is pirates who got demoralized finding their willpower once more and banding together to make the magic happen. It's about time their figurehead, Buggy, joined the gang and starts acting like a real leader. I can't wait to see the GENUINE progress he makes now that his head is in the game.

It is important to note that Cross Guild would have never worked without Buggy. Crocodile has wealth and Mihawk has power sure, but other people would never want to associate with either of them.
The Trio only works because Buggy has something even some of the strongest pirates don't have: appeal to others, even strangers. Luffy recruits people close to him, but Buggy recruits *Everyone*

Buggy is what happen when you play favorites. Despite supposedly having equal levels of talents to Shanks, he wasn't raised with the same level of praise and thus grew up with low self esteem. And if Shanks doesn't believe he has a chance then what hope does Buggy have?

Buggy is the picture and definition of Failing Upward... and I think his hollowness is the whole point.  A man who can split his body apart but ultimately has almost nothing himself... while his "brother" has a plan and purpose Buggy has a "crew" that will tear him apart if the mask ever slips.

I honestly truly Really hope that in the final saga, Buggy kind of becomes like spot from spiderverse and just out of nowhere is the coolest most serious, most scary character ever.

Dude has an unrivaled charisma that somehow transcends his limited talent. Much like Mr. Satan, being able to rally people to your side is also a power.

A quick comedic way I'd describe buggy is as One piece's Daffy Duck a character who is simultaneously telling jokes and is frequently the butt of jokes.

Omg, its buggy my fave. Thank you for dropping a vid on him, there is so much to him, he is going to suprise a lot of ppl in the final saga. The  mistake many people make is to take him as a gag character instead of a comedic character. This man cannot miss❤

We were told by Vegapunk that Devil Fruits are the manifestation of the desires of humanity, and we even see how maybe, through the wishes of hundreds of people in Wano (the lanterns in the sky scene) Luffy might have become strong enough to defeat Kaido.

What if Buggy receives a similar power up thanks to the blind trust and respect his men have for him? They genuinly believe in him and wish he becomes the next king of the pirates.

Imagine if they start believing that the bara bara no mi is actually a legendary zoan and because they wish for it to be true it actually becomes the truth

Great video but I feell you've done Buggy a bit of disservice by not mentioning Buggy's Pirate Delivery System that he started up and headed when he was a Warlord. While not as grandiose as his current Warlord status, it demonstrates that Buggy isn't as bumbling as many would view him to be, often able to capitalize on great opportunities even outside of pure luck. He even managed to get the Giants to work under him for a while, something that even Big Mom couldn't do and its only because of Luffy that he had his major powerhouses taken away something that was entirely out of his control. He's very interesting mix of fool, opportunist, cunning and pushed forward by either fate or luck considering him losing the Giants was out of control, but had he not lost them then he likely would not have been in a deficit to Crocodile (the giants were his major money source), which means Crocodile wouldn't have shown up right as the Marines did when the Warlords were disbanded to get his money, which means that Buggy's underlings wouldn't have been under the assumption that Crocodile worked under Buggy, which means that Cross Guild (at least with Buggy as the leader)  would've never became a thing, which means he'd never would've been able to go after the One Piece.
