I like to imagine he showed up day 1 to jungle warfare school, and the guy running the school looked him up and down one time, looked at his combat record, and said "you can just chill off to the side for this class, you're good" 😂

Dude got shot in the face and decided to increase the difficulty setting. To be fair that jaw looks like its probably level 3A rated at least.

They changed the law when Dan Daly was nominated for his 3rd moh after the battle of Bellaue wood. He was the last person to recive more than 1 moh

Its the "if this shit gets any harder, im going to quit" that kills me every time with this story

Most dads joke about how they'd treat an abusive boyfriend/husband of their daughter. Rob Howard was a man whom you'd look at and know that it's not a joke, it's not an idle threat, and there isn't anyone in the world who could stop him from making you suffer to your last breath. Dude's metal AF.

I watched this first on the TFE channel and now love watching reactors listening to the story.  Nick finds so many people that are not well known to most of us and then introduces them to the world.  ❤

9:32 I had a friend who's great grandpa made him promise he wouldn't join the military. He passed away shortly after and he wanted to follow his grandpa but he couldn't go against his wish.

dan daley was the last person to receive 2 MOH and i believe in nic’s video he mentions that it only took them a month to change it and they made it LAW that you can only receive 1

"Put me back in Coach." 27:45

My grandpa served all 4 years in WII . When my dad was 17 he dropped out of high school and signed up for the army. When he went home and told his dad my grandpa said boy you are to going to see things no man should ever see, and wished you never would have had to see it. That was the one and only time he talked about WII.

0:51 hey I just realized he's hit 2 million now lol

Love the fat alectrician so damn much for his story telling. Always leaves me in tears from laughing. And i do wanne bet that the terminator was indeed based on this guy lol

I wonder if he knew Roy Benavidez, two of the most incredible stories I've ever heard him cover.

He likely couldn't get the Medal of Honor because a lot of the secret stuff he did in other countries.

My dad was army and supported me joining. I then supported my oldest son to join when he wanted to. And supported my youngest son when he joined the air force.

if you read the contract you signed, you can be recalled at any point in your life. you are always a marine

Americans of that generation grew up in the Great Depression where poverty & want were endemic so they had to be tough. My maternal grandfather was one, he lied about his age during WW2 and was sent into the merchant marines on convoy duty. He was later a Master Sergeant in Vietnam. One of the toughest people I’ve ever met.

The book you need to read is "SOG" by John Plaster. It is basically a cover to cover roller coaster covering everything SOG did from its inception to dissolution. Every major operation, every change of SOP, stories like Robert Howard are all in there and each seem to be attempting to outdo each other in sheer creativity, testicular fortitude and unbelievability.

For instance my favorite one was when one of the Recon Teams (RT's) observed the NVA using elephants to haul ammunition on the Ho Chi Minh trail and reported this to their intelligence officer upon their return. He asked them if they were "smoking something" out in the bush that made them see these "elephants" and discounted the finding. After their next patrol, they dumped a bag of elephant shit on his desk as proof.

Or one where an RT ambushed an NVA soldier riding a bicycle down the trail and after finding no documents or maps on him of intelligence value, decided to take the bicycle back with them as they didn't know of one having been captured before. It was modified with extra racks and straps to haul supplies all over the place and the One Zero decided to take it back for analysis and to use as a trophy. He radioed the FOB to send a helicopter- using code phrases from a daily SOI sheet to communicate this- however there was no word for 'bicycle' in the SOI, so he simply transmitted the word bicycle without any encryption. The radio operator at the FOB didn't find "bicycle" on the code sheet of the day, but it WAS used as a code word on the previous day for a general. So he assumed that the RT was tired, had forgotten the date and were radioing for an emergency extraction of a captured NVA general.

The whole time they're waiting for the chopper, the RT is inundated with calls asking about the condition of "the bicycle" if it has any markings and if it is "damaged", in any way- assuring them that a full bird colonel is boarding the chopper to personally take charge of this "bicycle" on the helicopter and will be bringing it to Saigon- but keep asking questions. The RT One Zero is like "sure, whatever. I mean its a little worn out and could use new tires but its right here. You guys don't come and get this thing right away, and stop asking questions or I'll shoot the bicyle and continue my patrol".

Chopper shows up, Full Bird is pissed watching a SOG man march through the elephant grass wheeling a chinese made bicycle up to the chopper and throw it aboard before his team climbs on.  Apparently nobody wanted the bicycle for intelligence purposes so this SOG One Zero made a point of keeping the bike for himself and riding it around his FOB when he wasn't in the bush.

If you want further reading but with an entirely untrustworthy narrator- I think the ORIGINAL Fat Electrician style story telling is anything by Nick Brokhausen. His two books about his time in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia as a SOG man are THOROUGHLY entertaining- if it feels like the truth has been stretched to the breaking point every paragraph but they're both solid reads.

Brother, this Yank get almost excited for your reactions to TFE content as I do for his new uploads.
Your takes have gotten a sub from me.
Don't shy away from doing more TFE content. I know I am not alone in loving it.

Dan Daly was actually recommended for the MoH FOUR times. Congrats on your Morale drink ready to hit the market! I will definitely be ordering some, along with a Chuug. I've been subbed to you since you had about 30k subscribers. Hope you're feeling better, my wife and I both have whatever this is. My symptoms are the "razor blade throat" and not being able to breathe through my nose at all, which has been making me unable to sleep so I've been up for a few days borderline hallucinating lol
