Final Fantasy XVI is $30 at my local Walmart.
It’s $70 on the PlayStation Store.
This is the only reason they’re doing this.

"I trust Sony when they say that 85% of sales are digital"
And yet, Sony was caught deleting proof that many of their first party games in the last 10 years sold more on physical than digital.

If people’s digital libraries were respected like private property, this would be a nonissue.

Everything is an Xbox > Everyone from Xbox is fired > Everyone from everything is fired > You are a part of everyone > You are fired > You are an Xbox

Let's not forget that no disc drive fucks over people who've been using their console as a proxy media player for disc-based music & movies.

Honestly the way I'm receiving this news probably isn't so different than how the actual employees did.

Actually, a lot of the sale numbers for some of Sony's bigger titles, like GOW Ragnarok, showed that no, physical sales were not really on the decline, at least not for AAA. They can make the claim about majority digital sales because of indies that can't afford to make discs.

Listen to how much this news upset Punchgirl. She already cares so much about this industry!

It's not even a debate anymore, piracy is just morally correct.

People are going to start quoting Ross Scott like the goddamn Unabomber.

Bruh, I lived in the countryside (no internet) for like 7 of the last 9 years. I played T7 almost exclusively offline, updating the console at locals/people's houses. I NEEDED to have access to discs be able to play any game released in the last 10 years.

Physical games may not be popular, but they always will be needed. Taking away discs is anti-consumer and locks out a lot of people that want to play new games but can't download them.

Shit's fucked!!

The way Punchgirl is punctuating Woolie's early points with yelling, like, "that's right, dad!"

Remember that Woolie still owns Heavy Rain on PS4 permanently preserved as one of his favorite games he can never trade in or get rid of.

I think it's funny everyone forgot that having digital games originally was thrown at the industry with the premise that it would be cheaper to purchase digitial games and movies to help cut costs with physical production. Tripple-A gaming speedrunning its crash is marvelous to see first-hand.

The console market realized they still had some edges over PC gaming and decided they needed to kneecap themselves to fix that IMMEDIATELY

Funny how Microsoft and Sony acquired ActiBliz and Bungie respectively and then just gave out

The problem, more than anything else, is the lack of customer protections in regards to digital media. If corpos weren't allowed to pretend that buying digital content is actually renting a license, the impact of removing physical media would be minimal.

Obsidian may be the most unlucky group of devs ever.

Bethesda union came out and said that the "14 layers of management" thing was a complete lie btw

how much of that "85% of our sales are digital already" comes from games without physical disc in stores?
