Hi, Pastry Chef here. Mayonnaise cakes are a wonderfully simple and classic way make a cake. During the time of the Great Depression when supplies were being railed, Mayonnaise became a great way to make cakes due to its use of three key ingredients: salt, fat (often eggs AND oil), and usually an acid like vinegar, which activates the baking soda and creates a more soluble fat to absorb into the cake better creating a lighter, fluffier, and more delicious sponge.

Just to defend Will, I commonly gravitate to the smaller utensils in my drawers! 😂😂 love these videos

the reason our pineapple is so nasty compared to the UK is because he used crushed pieces while Daz used pineapple chunks its not the same thing 😭

4:10 Daz and will blatantly ignoring that he said it's on a low heat had me screaming at my tv

Only on 'Off the Hook' can you hear 2 straight men continuously call each other slags 😂😂😂 you guys are hilarious hahaha

WILL, MY NEURODIVERGENT BRETHREN 😂

Mayonnaise cake is a Great Depression cake. The mayonnaise replaces eggs and oil. It’s actually delicious
You both are hilarious!

On today's episode of Will on the Spectrum - the spoon theory 😂

Fun fact the reason they say pineapple eats you back is because pineapples share a similar enzyme to our stomach acid just on a lesser scale

The microwave has gone again and has been replaced with an air fryer 😂 can’t wait for daz to kick off about will leaving the kitchen to microwave again 😂

0:15 NO THE CAMERA WAS OUT OF FOCUS!!!! 😭

6:54 our cream cheese looks like that he just bought specifically the bars which are normally used when you bake or cook

As an American, we also have Philadelphia cream cheese in a container like that. But we also have it in blocks for baking and cooking!

"It's time for Aunt Mrysa's recipes!"

Daz as a genuine: what is he her grandson

I don't know why but I love the random low muttering noises Will makes like at 4:36.  It's like what my single braincell emits as I go to the fridge at 2am to eat cheese

About the cutlery (9:15): I agree with Will and I 100% have a preference, especially about the holding bit.
I also don't like it when I, for example, have a knife and a fork and they both have different handles. It doesn't feel right.
Spoons are a bit different because I pick a spoon based off what I'm eating, with some foods it's better to have a big spoon, with others a little spoon is better.

8:20 I am the only one who was confused by Daz's confusion about the special spoon? I definitely tend to use only a set selection of cutlery and only one type of spoon I will use so I am on Will's side with this one 😂

@49:59 The mayonnaise was a substitute for eggs when you didn’t ave any. Since mayonnaise is made out of whipped eggs, that’s why it works just fine in a cake. A lot of substitute ingredient recipes were quite common throughout late 40s and especially the 50s in America, along with some overall pretty out there recipes like tomato soup cake. One of the main reasons for these odd recipes was partly to sell products and to make things easier for housewives, plus when you are a housewife and you don’t have too much to do outside of cooking you might get some pretty out there ideas along the way. Mayonnaise cake is a very American thing.

As a chef watching Will just eyeball the ingredients for the cake made my anxiety go crazy. Especially with all that baking soda and baking powder. Lol I do agree with him on the favorite utensil whether it be fork or spoon. At my mom’s house I have a favorite fork which she is putting in her will that I get it if anything happens to her lol. Love you guys you’re hilarious!

after that celery talk and scissoring your food, you're basically a hot K-drama star...
