I spent hours riding those lanes back in the early 80s on  my CD175..... Then i upgraded to a Kawasaki Z200. I was living in Claycross at the time and working in Kelstage, fixing tractors

So glad you've got the Royal Enfield, it's a lovely bike. The thought of you doing 0 to 60 in 3 seconds on the gravel just isn't a good one.
Looking forward to some more brilliant adventures.

Hi Allan. Fully empathise with your situation. I had an XJR1300 for 18 years until March this year when I sold it and bought a Classic 350. It was the best bike I've ever owned but at 65 I felt it was becoming hard work just to go out on a Sunday bumble. I never rode much over 60mph anyway and I kept asking myself would I be better off with something I could just ride out along the lanes and B roads. So I just did it and haven't looked back. No doubt I'll miss the speed when I'm returning from a trip or especially on a European tour, but I still believe I might be able to get a week away on my 350, albeit on much slower roads.  Great video. Good luck with it.

I just discovered this channel. I liked, I subscribed, and I hyped👍

My fiance and I are riding Royal Enfield classic 350's that we purchased used last Summer.

Have no issues with the power as I am no longer interested in going fast fast fast. Yet it is still playfully torquey between stop lights.

The only changes I'm interested in making to mine would be to convert from tube to tubeless and to convert from chain drive to belt drive.

Both of those changes will give me both peace of mind and less maintenance knowing I can change a tire on the road with a simple plug and not have to oil a chain. I have no complaints about vibration but what the heck it does reduce that too.

Congrats on your meteor🎉 that was our second favorite in the line we just preferred the classics more retro-looking lines. Your color is by far the best of the meteors 😎

Fabulous, just what I needed. Im 65 aching to get back on a bike after 20 years and I’m thinking an RE 350 of some model will be the ideal bike to break me back in. And I could understand every word so perhaps your other disgruntled viewer should nip down to get their hearing tested.

Hi Allen.
Of the lumps that Enfield make imho the 350J series is their best engine.
Simple with as few moving parts as possible.
Long stroke flexibility  full of the character and soul way too many techno mode bikes have lost.
At 72 after 3 year years with  this little bike it gives me all I want .
Im a country lane lover ,not a motorway rider so 70mph is enough.
Sunny days 45mph relaxed ride through the countryside cant beat it mate

Congrats on the RE.Very wise.I have a Classic 350,done nearly 9,000 mile now and love it.Twice ,I,ve done 4 hr stints before stopping 'cause of "bum ache".So very comfy. But sat on one of the cruiser style in a dealers 1 day,and was amazed how comfy the riding position was.Suspect the slightly "harsh"rear shock thing is entirely due to the angle of the shocks being in line with the riders back.Nevertheless a beautifull bike.Keep riding.

Hi Allan a great bike for them lanes brill on fuel, low road tax, and great on insurance its a no brainer, and like you said the roads for big bikes are rough and potholes everywhere.😊
Cant wait to see some more lane trips around there. Ride safe and keep well.😊

I brought a 450 Himalayan, rediscovering back lanes which I never took the Kawasaki Versys down, and enjoying riding again, a few weeks ago I tested a R/E 350 Hunter great little machine which my partner said was really comfortable. Enjoy your new machine and your adventures on it 🙂

Thought you would get a Royal Enfield 350 but hadn’t guessed the model! Totally understand the weight issue, my hubby is younger than yourself and has been struggling with weight with our Harley., so that went very sadly and he bought a brand new Royal Enfield Himalayan  450, so he can do a bit of green laning as well as road riding. Great video loved the little lanes,. I mentioned Narnia in the last video comments and yes we have Narnia again! Beautiful 😍 Take care out there and enjoy ❤xx

My Classic 350 has a sidecar, so I am always tail-end Charlie, and that's just fine. It still gets along in traffic (non-freeway) just fine, and anyway, someone has to carry the snags and the charcoal!

Hi there, nice choice of bike I have the Guerrilla and my pal has the classic 350 so we jingle around all over the country at a nice steady pace. I am sure you won't regret getting the meteor ride safe 👍cheers Kev

Ey up

That bike makes perfect sense if you only intend riding it round the Peak District
And the bonus is they’re easy to maintain and work on

I’ll si thee

For me the Meteor is just retro enough. The Classic is a little too retro/post WWII for my taste. Lovely bike though. The riding position on the Meteor is much more comfortable for my old bones. My W800 regularly returns 73mpg Imperial so the added fuel economy won't be a huge change as I don't ride that much anyway. The tubeless tires, slightly forward foot pegs, heel and toe shifter, more comfortable seat and lighter weight are the main reasons I am looking at the Meteor. I must bow to my wife's preference and get the red Supernova though.

Love the new Royal Enfields  ideal for our neck of the woods on those country lanes , Enjoy , I bought an Hunter 3 1/2 years back unfortunately I was knocked off it almost 3 weeks back and I believe it will be a write off ? As for me I’ve got a broken leg and in a cast for the foreseeable future however if my bike is written off I’m back in the market for another Hunter , love it , Enjoy and Ride Safe 🤟

I just subscribed to see more about the Meteor. I'm in a similar situation. I'm almost 72 years of age and my current much loved W800 is getting a bit heavy for me at nearly 500 pounds. The riding position is also a bit hard on my old knees, hips and shoulder on longer rides. I have been considering a Meteor 350 Supernova. I sat on one at the dealers and it just felt right. So Comfortable. Most of my riding is on 50 to 60 mph roads with the odd 15 mile run on a four lane motorway. The Meteor can manage all that, be more comfortable and possibly keep me riding further into the future. I think I will wait for the 2026 models to be available here in Canada as they now come with a slipper/assist clutch and full LED lighting. There are lots of new 2024 models available at the central warehouse in Texas so might be a while for the 2026 machines and they are not discounting the 2024s very much. Try cranking the rear preload up a notch or two. Some Meteor owners claim that improves the ride by giving more damper travel. Keep us posted on how you get on with the Meteor. I have a cheap Garmin for navigation so the tripper is of no interest to me.
Cheers: BJ

It's called flash Lane because the end, over the road used to be flash dam we used to swim in it when we were kids

If you are like me (Similar Age ) you will love the Meteor  I am on my 2nd one 1st one 2022  did 12000 never missed a beat  I now have a 2024 supernova  (red)  4000 miles up to now I got rid of all my heavy bikes  this J series engine is a beauty of an engine ,  I use mine all round North Wales down to South Wales   I am planning a trip over to The Peak's  I will let you know when and we could perhaps meet up at Monyash   for a coffee and a Bap  👍

I own a meteor 350, can't believe how cheap they are to run

I guessed Royal Enfield (and I've not been peeping}. It was a bike I thought about way back before getting ADV350 in 2022. Nice low seat but negative for me is weight, about 15kg more than my Eliminator. No doubt J will downsize eventually but may have to be a lighter 125
