Kuai Liang wasn't born Sub-Zero. He inherited the name after the death of his brother Bi-Han, becoming the second warrior to bear the mantle of the Lin Kuei.

Throughout the Mortal Kombat storyline, Kuai Liang went from being a Lin Kuei assassin to becoming one of its most important members, facing off against Scorpion, resisting the clan's transformation into an army of cyborgs, and seeking a different path for his organization.
