I went to Dallas Texas on April 3rd from Dublin. The US pre clearance in Dublin is a bonus, feels brilliant getting off the plane and going straight to baggage collection. I also went to New York JFK from Dublin back in 2023.

Our flights got canceled due the storm. Looks very straight forward from airport to city with the train and saves a fortune. Hotel looks lovely. Enjoy!!

You could also take the Long Island Railroad to Manhattan. It is much faster than the A Train

Glad you came back to NY! I am heading to Dublin in June and I am rewatching all your local videos. Any tips for getting around for someone who has a little mobility issues?

For next time, I’d recommend taking the LIRR instead of the subway from Jamaica to Penn Station (or Gand Central). For a tiny amount more, you’ll have a quicker ride which will be more comfortable and manageable with luggage. You can buy a city ticket for slightly more than the subway fare. Just be mindful that the ticket machines can sometimes be funny with international postal codes, so you’re better off using the mobile app for tickets.

When they scanned your passport at immigration everything will have been on his display about you, including if you had a valid passport. Landing in Boston from London 2 years ago it was very straightforward, nearly as easy as arriving home in to Dublin as it is so streamlined now. No paper forms anymore. Just hand over the passport.

For future reference, you can also take the LIRR from Jamaica to Grand Central! It's a little more expensive, but can be more comfortable than the subway especially during rush hour. You can purchase a "CityTicket" which is $5 off peak and $7.50 during peak from Jamaica to either Grand Central or Penn Station or any other station within NYC. It runs fairly frequently too since there are several lines going from Jamaica to Grand Central or Penn.

Also, with immigration, it does depend on who you get and also the city you're in. In general, New York is a lot more open to immigration and stuff, so the Customs and Border Patrol officers at the airport are probably less worried about people coming in. So it can definitely vary a lot case by case, so just be prepared.
