I've  successfully passed through Japanese Immigration at Fukuoka, Kansai, Haneda, Narita, Chitose Sapporo , and Naha Airports 37 times ( and counting ).
I just keep a blank, expressionless face and answer questions in a robotic monotone. No smiles , jokes or any display of emotion. It's guaranteed to work, trust me.

I worked internationally as a consultant for inspections of medical facilities. I always told my clients, "Just answer the question. Don't give them their next one."

These are crazy times for Humanity on the Planet.

1. Purpose of visit
2. Duration of stay
3. Where will you stay?
4. Proof of return ticket,
5. Source of funds,

After watching this educational video i'm nolonger afraid of Immigration and customs questions. I can now answer every question i may be asked with clarity and precision!

I’m Swedish, have travelled in 55 countries and lived in 19 over the past 45 years. I have never been questioned, or had my luggage searched. Ever.

It's actually simple:
1. Keep all important travel documents (i. e. passport and airplane tickets) within easy reach
2. Answer the questions you are being asked precisely, i. e. give the exact answer to the question - and nothing more.
3. Remember your composure. There's a saying: "If you behave like a bunny, you will be greeted by lions. If you behave like a lion, you will be greeted by bunnies."

My problem is that I keep in mind what I mustn't say. And then I say it.

That is true one question & one answer only. Memorize your purpose & stay calm. Simple.😊❤🎉

I will never forget a big mistake I made in 1999 it was my 50th birthday and my husband present to me was a trip to Nashville country music  festival . I was so excited.
So after we landed from South Africa and had to go trough to the passport officer's window I had to look into a camera and she had my passport in her hand looking at the computer screen. ( I have to tell you my husband and myself are always making jokes with complete strangers thats just how we are so this in mind) I leaned forward and asked her "So am I wanted?" She looked up from the computer and in a stern voice she said "I'm still looking" I must have gone pale or something because she looked me straight in the eyes while saying it then she smiled and said "got you" thank goodness it was a friendly officer.

パスポートコントロールはいつも緊張するけどHelsinki には　にっこりして日本語で挨拶してくれる優しい係の人がたまにいて嬉しくなる。

I was told many years ago, answer the question only the question do not volunteer anything.
Another tip Do not appear interested someone else’s interview.

It explains why vague answers like “visiting friends” sometimes trigger follow-ups even when there’s nothing suspicious going on.

Good video people can learn from what you are saying. ❤

I prefer to have print outs of all travel-related documents to show them. I'm old and get flustered going through my phone when anyone is sitting there and staring at me 😜

30 yrs ago my work took me to New York for 1 day. At Passport control the official asked, “where are you staying?” I said I was only there for 1 day and showed him my return ticket that same day just before midnight. He didn’t believe me and said he’s putting me on the next flight back to the U.K. (which he did). But I held the cargo  manifest for the flight which I had arrived on. That was my job. In those days cargo had to be accompanied by a courier who had the manifest. Only later did they send a posse of people to talk to me and beg me for the manifest so that they could clear the cargo. It’s expensive when planes can’t turn around. Being decent human I gave it to them as i didn’t want to cause my boss trouble but i didn’t have to as you are not suppose to hand it over when ‘air-side’.  Never did see New York. No desire to do so now.

Easy and simple honest and get the document ready before approaching the immigration officers.

The less words you use to answer the questions the better! Be as calm as you can be, that is not the end of the world, even if you will do or say something little wrong there (not intentional lies though), officers wont bite and wont do anything bad to you as long as you are not doing anything fishy... Even if it will lead you to more investigation because of some of your mistake, just be calm and you will get great experience for future times ahead )
Remember to act as experienced traveler, you should became an experienced traveler, all these advices are great, but without real life practice it all is just theory learning.
I have gone through different customs and immigration so much times, that now every time when I get there and see those customs/immigration officer's serious stone faces - it just makes me smile )

What people don't see; before you approach the officer, there are hidden eyes that watch travelers for telltale signs that could indicate nervousness and other things. If you are travelling with someone don't keep talking back and forth because that might indicate trying to rehearse a story. If you are traveling alone keep a blank face and eyes in the direction of the booth.

This video should have finished in less than 15 minutes.
