The short story was originally published in the Spring 1989 Issue of the Midnight Graffiti magazine and later on in his collection Nightmares and Dreamscapes.
There are some differences but nothing that takes away from the quality of this short. In the short story, the young couple meet the older residents in a store in town, there are no figures in masks, and the story takes place in Maine. The arc of the husband is different too.
This film made good use of tone and atmosphere and the toad shots worked well and were just enough for the viewer to get the point. The ending was a little quick as I would have liked to have seen more of the aftermath.
The acting was believable and this was an overall great experience to watch. King is not an easy adaptation and this one delivered.
Great work and thanks to all involved.
Long days and Pleasant nights. Peace.
