I get this to an extent but I actually learned more about my hair in-depth from bw. Sometimes the guys vids are too short and they be skipping a lot of crucial parts aka how the hair looks wet vs dry. I tried the shake method before and it just don’t hit right, the curls are somewhat defined wet then dries looking like there’s nothing in it lol… Shingling is more work but it’s worth it cuz it lasts way longer
The issue was always over-styling, they're ripping out their hair. A lot of Black women want to look a particular way so they do too much to look that way. I think many of us need to just embrace looking Black because looking Black is unique and beautiful.
Black men took haircare from us but kept it super minimalistic DUE TO the part about styling. The styling is our downfall part😂😂 because that's the manipulation part that doesn't help.
Black men don’t have the same pressure to make their hair look “presentable”, I’ve seen plenty of men with their “old” cornrows and nobody cares but if I stay too long with my mini braids people start to say my hair looks unkept
As an Indian curly haired girly, I can’t thank black women enough for teaching me about my hair when I never learned about it from my surroundings apart from hating and tugging it.
They learned from black women though 😂😂 😂 the thing is yall made haircare way to complicated for no reason because some of you guys bought the “ black hair is difficult naturally” mentality.look at how our parents did our hair as kids ,simple . In the 70’a peak natural hair love their haircare was simple .aslo black men have their own complexe with their natural hair just like black women so it’s not a “black men haircare thing” . And again , they learned from black women . 😂😂😂
This is so right. I have been embracing my frizz and I’m not spending hours on end washing and detangling my hair every week. Who has that type of time?
Also this “perfect parts” business for twists? I don’t think so! I snatch up sections and twist. Where the hair wants to separate is where the part is at and that’s it!
A lot of the reason people struggle with detangling is because they simply dont wash it enough, regardless of hair texture. Wash your hair at least once a week, and it won't be a problem. Anyone who waits 30 days to wash will cry on washday😭
I’m a black woman with long healthy hair and I never did the shingle method. I do the praying hands method and I also rake the product through my hair as well. I’m not going through every single strand of my hair. I don’t care if it gets frizzy. Also wash day shouldn’t take ALL DAY! It only takes me an hour and a half to do my hair and I spend 30 minutes in the shower. I have a simple routine. Wash, moisturize, detangle, and braid in four French braids. That’s it.
You guys have to take in to account that most of men’s hairstyles ARE protective styles. Braids, twists, cornrows, or just shaved. They are not pressure to have straight, loose curls, wavy, defined hair like we are that’s why when they do, it’s such a spectacle like Gio or that father daughter duo that got caught using extensions
If you ask me some black men do not manipulate their hair as much as women , bc hair grows but its the retention that matters and unbraiding process. Second , many blk men just take the normal route but the blk women just kinda take the narrative that black hair is difficult and hard , like i said its normal hair care.
