Love my Soto Windmaster!! ♥️🔥👍

I have several canister stoves, but the Windmaster is my go-to stove for all conditions because I don't have to worry about if the wind will suddenly pick up.

I bought the Soto Windmaster w/4-Plex pot holder & consider it one of the best & smartest decisions I've ever made in terms of backpacking equipment.
The Flame is 7mm from the bottom of the pot compared to 10mm for the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe.  Maximum heat output for Windmaster is 11,000 btu's while the PR is 9,000 btu's.
And the piezo ignitor works, while most other ignitors are notoriously problem prone.
Soto was THE FIRST to design/engineer/manufacture "regulators" for canister stoves & they absolutely nailed it in terms of it maintaining even pressure whether the canister is full or near empty + as you pointed out, is excellent at adjusting heat output.  Thanks to patent protection all other regulators are similar to, but NOT THE SAME nor as efficient.
I normally light my Windmaster with a Ferro Rod instead of the stove's ignitor.

HEADS UP - I emailed Soto & asked for a spare set of O-Rings for my stove & provided them with a copy of my purchase invoice & it's serial #.   A week later they were delivered, no problem & no cost to me.  I think it's a good idea to have those spare O-Rings in a small ziplok baggie for that just in case situation.
YES, there are other youtube videos that clearly show how easy it is to replace a Windmaster Ignitor if needed.

HEADS UP - I always begin a hike or overnighter with a FULL small 4oz canister thanks to the G-Works fuel transfer valve.  I carry one & only one small 4oz fuel canister & am confident I have enough fuel for my needs for at LEAST 7 days/nights.

YES, I've just subscribed & rang the notification bell.

Love my Soto Windmaster...especially the 4 legged pot support. Stove and support fit in the pouch and this easily fits inside my  Toaks 900ml wide pot with can of gas

Great gear review!!!

I love my Fire Maple Blade 2 remote canister stove that I bought off of AliExpress. As it doesn't sit on top of the canister, it is low profile and is not exposed to the wind as much, has great simmer control for actual cooking, and folds down to fit inside my Toaks 375 mug.

Nice review Mark.  I have a Snow Peak stove.  I think it's a tiny bit lighter than the Soto.  It doesn't have an infighter, but as you point out, you should always carry a secondary spark device of some sort.  I've been real happy with my Snow Peak for the past four years...when I remember to bring it and don't have to borrow Rainman's stove... lol

It’s one of those items that make you wonder why anyone bothers to use something else.

My spark lighter also quit working.  I bought the repair kit but decided to just carry an extra mini-Bic instead.  Love the stove.

Approve! This stove is realy very quick, quite and efficient in different weather condition. My other big MSR WhisperLite do not get boil 1l of water so quick and quite as this stove. Love it!

I have had a Windmaster for about 8 years and no problems with the igniter, lights first or second try every time.  My favorite sit on top canister stove. Recently I bought a Soto Fusion Trek remote canister stove from REI $95. It has a large 2 3/8 inch concave wind resistant burner head with a wide flame pattern that works best with wider pots. Weighs about 6 1/2 oz.  I use it with a 5 3/4 diameter Fire Maple kettle.

I've been contemplating getting this for a while now. I use the BRS but for a little over an ounce more I'll probably get this before my CT hike this year. I also use alcohol stoves but not out in Colorado.

Nice review, my Windmaster is the best canister stove I've ever used. It's nice to use when you want something quick or need the adjustability for finer cooking. My go-to though is my alcohol Goshawk Era with AZ-0 stand; it can boil 2 cups in 3 minutes. I've boiled 2 - 32 degree cups of water with cold fuel in just under 9 minutes with it at 0 deg F. That's my secondary for backpacking though to one of my Firebox stoves. That's a cool coffee-making device, what is it?

Will a Jetboil Flash cup fit atop that stove?

You can buy copy of Soto windmaster just for 15 dollar. The brand name is APG mini stove
