My Dad had the Chemist shop on Cannon Street H BODDY
Used to walk down Millbank street off the K bus on Newport Rd
As a kid I remember the ladies scrubbing and whitening their steps.

My father and his brother grew up on Kendall street ,he was born 1926

Flanagans secondhand shop was my great grandmothers shop. My nan was her daughter Margaret.

I was born in 68, not from that part of Boro but everyone from Middlesbrough knows about Cannon Park. Great film, gave me goosies watching it 👌 😢👍

I was born on Cannon Street in 1958, the youngest of my 3 brothers was born in the same house in April 1969.  We moved onto Cannon Park on the 4th January 1974 and it still wasn't demolished then

My grandad lived at number 5 canon street about 1905 and great grandad had an allotment I think it was just over the river and he let gipsies put their Van's on it. One of the gipsies was a horse trader who purchased ponies for the mines and the other gipsy had a pickles business. Grandad often went to Stockton railway station with the gipsies to collect the ponies then they would walk them along the wilderness road through the night and keep them in the allotment area until next morning . Next Mr ing was Sunday and the ponies had to be walked to Eston . The route they took was up Marton rd and they would have gone along the trunk rd which was a toll rd owned by the church and was closed on Sunday so they had to go further up and along ladgate lane. He told me the ponies were paid for following inspection with gold sovereigns. He said it was the first time he and got grandad had seen gold. I hope the details are correct I can only reflect on what grandad told me.

My Grandmother was Mrs Leopard, she owned houses in Cannon Street and Calthorpe St. which she rented out. I can remember going to collect the rents with her on a Friday. My Great Grandfather ran the Royal Oak, on Dacre Street, in the 1800's

Wonderful video, enjoyed this with my dad who grew up there in a caravan on cannon Street, then moved to gilk street when they got a house..  He does have a slight different memory of the vicar and wonders if anyone else remembers the masses of rumors regarding him being a pedofile?  Would love to see more videos like this!!
